I couldn’t use it! I live in Australia too and it is just a bit to weird for me. It also reminds me of the movie [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Otis[/name]. As you are still young maybe when you get around to having kids it will be more usable? Name trends can change quickly although for most Aussies [name]Milo[/name] will always make them think of the hot drink.

I can’t think of any names that have the same feel as [name]Milo[/name] as I can think of is the sweet, sweet hot [name]Milo[/name] I am craving!!!
What about a name where the nn could be [name]Milo[/name]?

And now I’m going to boil the kettle to have a hot [name]Milo[/name]!

I have been debating this too, I love the drink and it also reminds me of [name]Milo[/name] [name]Thatch[/name] from the Disney film [name]Atlantis[/name]. It feels upbeat and jazzy with a crusty cool old man vibe to boot. But I don’t think I could get away with it living in Australia especially having played milo cricket when I was younger as well. You could consider [name]Miles[/name] nn “[name]Milo[/name]”.

Other similar names:

[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Barnaby[/name]
[name]Bix[/name]
[name]Django[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name]
[name]Mungo[/name]
[name]Phineas[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name]
[name]Thaddeus[/name]

I’ve never lived or been in Australia, but I was thinking an easy fix would be to go with [name]Miles[/name]

I love the name [name]Milo[/name], but only after realising that these kids weren’t named after the drink! I thought they were!
I think as an Australian I wouldn’t want other people making the same mistake I did (which I still can’t believe I made).
To counteract this I would use [name]Miles[/name] and use the nickname [name]Milo[/name], then when he’s older, if being [name]Milo[/name] gets too much unwanted attention he can always use [name]Miles[/name]. And [name]Miles[/name] sounds good as a doctor / lawyer / footy player etc. whereas I can’t imagine a Dr [name]Milo[/name] in Australia. But if you do decide to use [name]Milo[/name], it isn’t going to be for a while now, right? So by then it might not be so much of a big deal.

You could possibly translate this affinity for short, “o”-ending names into girls names, because there are many attractive possibilities a la Juno, Hero, Marlo, Clio, Koko, Margo, Valo (there are many short and sweet Finnish names like Lumi & Suvi with great meanings; this one means light) or Shiloh.
There’s also Arlo, Hugo, Theo, Nico or Cato for a boy.

If that’s not necessarily your thing, these might take your fancy:
Reed
Tate
Leif
Cove
Cy
Louis
Amos
Ari
Flynn/Fynn/Finn
Knox (though if you live in Sydney there’s a questionable school with this name)
Miller (besides the whole “Miller’s Fashion Club” thing this is number one for me right now, and a great substitute for Milo)
Alfie
Remy
Alec
Ford
Clark
Louis
Riley
Stellan
Archie
Christo
Jude

As for the name Milo itself I exactly know your pain! Though an Aussie teen myself I don’t particularly see any problem with Milo (most likely because I hate Milo and grew up drinking Nesquik) but when brought up with friends the immediate reaction to the name is “ugh, no way. chocolate milk”. At the end of the day, does it really matter? It’s a lovely name and chocolate milk isn’t the worst possible association

Edit: Like the other poster said, you could also look at names that contain “mil” to extract the nm Milo: Hamilton, Maximilian, Camillo, Emilio, Milos, Milson, Milton. But Miller’s my favourite
