I am forever trying to find ‘the one’ when it comes to girls names, because I love baby names and have to have one picked out in advance! Myself and my partner struggle to agree on girls names but he loves P3n3l0p3 (coded so that this doesn’t ruin the name announcement in case someone I know stumbles across this
). We already have a son called Franki3 (Franci$)
Their names would be Franki3 and P3nny. My partner then said ‘haha the only thing is it sounds like Franki3 and Benny’s’ (for those that live in UK, you will know the fast food chain). Be TOTALLY honest, would you have thought this if you heard the nicknames together before I said anything? And secondly, now that I’ve said it, do you think it’s an issue? Would you still use the name?
I don’t want to ask people I know, because then it will forever be in their heads if we do choose to use the name.
On a totally separate note, another name we do agree on is Delilah, but I worry it’s very popular? I also worry if ‘Lilah’ is on the boring side as a nickname? (I suppose it would naturally be shortened). The long form is much nicer so I worry how I feel about Lilah? We are very ‘nick-namey’ people.
If we did use Delilah, the only middle names we can use that would go with it (we use family names for middle spots), would be Elizabeth or Ena.
Which do you prefer? Is Delilah Elizabeth too much of a mouthful? Is Delilah Ena just a no no?
Sorry for the amount of questions, I just know you all love baby names as much as I do

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] actually isn’t that popular IRL. Although a lot of people love it , I can guarantee you won’t meet that many, especially since new parents these days are actually leaning towards older styled names to try to make sure their baby has a unique name. The only people who actually seem to name their children the most popular name trends these days are teen or young parents, and even then, I still to this day have only ever heard of one baby [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and that was on my Facebook, and have never met a real [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] in person (baby or grown) and I live in my provinces main city, so I think you wouldn’t have to worry on that name being overly popular amongst other children in her grades
So I live 20 minutes away from [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] & Bennys and honestly did not think that when I saw Fr3nkie & P3nny together didn’t really cross my mind. [name_m]Even[/name_m] with that association I don’t think it’s a massive deal certainly wouldn’t put me off going with P3n3lop3! Also you could also use N3ll instead or even [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] so in a nutshell go with your favourite. Also Fr3nkie & B3nnys isn’t a fast food restaurant in the way KFC so doesn’t feel as awkward if that association is ever brought up if that makes sense.
Concerning D3lilah it’s a nice name really spunky but I do prefer P3n3lop3! D3lilah Elizab3th is a nice name I also like [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] & [name_f]Margot[/name_f] with D3lilah.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped

This is true actually, I know 2 on Facebook but have never met any in real life! Thank you for pointing this out
That is reassuring, thank you! It’s one of those things that I can’t un-hear so it’s the best way to find out my asking other people!

I’m not from the UK, though I have heard of the fast food joint, but I wouldn’t have thought that from Franki3 and P3nny. [name_m]Even[/name_m] so, I would use the nickname N3llie because Franki3 and N3llie is so, so cute!
I agree that [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] isn’t as popular as you think, depending on your region. I’ve taught for over ten years and only had one [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] as a student. If you don’t like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], how about [name_f]Della[/name_f]? Franki3 and [name_f]Della[/name_f] is also adorable! I don’t know which I like more with him: N3llie or [name_f]Della[/name_f]!

That’s really funny you say that, as I was pregnant recently and we were going to call our baby N3ll 3lizabeth, but had a miscarriage at just over 9 weeks and we have spoken since and said that it feels strange to use the name again…but I’m so gutted because we loved the name with Franki3…it’s a hard decision whether to call a rainbow baby after the one you lost…would you?

So sorry for your loss. I completely understand how that would be difficult. I do think of P3n3lop3 nicknamed N3llie (or even 3llie?) as different from N3ll, but it may be too close for you. In this case, I may go with [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Della[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], but P3nny is cute too.

I think that P3n3l0p3 is more popular than Delilah, and I love the name Del as a nickname!
We named our 19 week loss, and I definitely couldn’t use that name again, so I get if N3ll just has a special place in your heart!
On the other hand, we had our son’s name picked out during our first pregnancy (miscarriage) and I didn’t even think not to use it.
I guess it depends how much you love the name/picture a child with that name and how heavily you felt the loss. Whatever choice you make is the right one!

I don’t think it’s an issue. I think at most you might get a bemused comment occasionally not unlike your husband’s, but even then I doubt most would even think of it.
I think the two names make for great siblings!

Thank you, I’m so indecisive, I get new favourite names every week. It drives my partner crazy
That’s true, maybe [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is a better nickname than I think!
I completely get what you’re saying about it feels weird saving the name for another human, that’s exactly how I feel which is why I likely won’t go with it…thanks for your advice
Thank you so much that’s really helpful…I think it does depend how much you envisaged that name on a baby like you said, and I did really start to but maybe in time I’ll feel differently…
Xx
Thank you, I wouldn’t have thought of it myself!

I’m not from the UK so I can’t really answer your question about the restaurant, but just from hearing it just now I don’t think I would’ve made that connection. And even if someone does I think it would just be a silly thing and wouldn’t really stick long-term.
I do think that P3n3lope is more popular than [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], both in stats and in real life. I see a ton of little P3n3lopes around (probably thanks to [name_f]Kourtney[/name_f] Kardashian using the name), but have only met one [name_f]Delilah[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Ena[/name_f] is pretty, but if you really can’t get behind the nickname [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] I probably wouldn’t use it as she will probably end up being called that at some point, even if not by you. Although you could try to call her by other nicknames to try to avoid [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] a little, such as [name_u]Dell[/name_u], [name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Delly[/name_f], [name_f]Lil[/name_f], [name_f]Lilly[/name_f], or even something like [name_f]Lala[/name_f].
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering - can you (or someone) explain more about the “coding” thing? How does that stop people from knowing the name you chose? You’re not the first person I’ve seen do that on here and I’m just curious why!
