I prefer [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] to [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] but I much prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] to the both of them.
@Babies123456 That’s interesting, would you pronounce [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] differently to [name_f]Adaline[/name_f]?
Bit of a tangent here, but…
I know that [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is the original and therefore “correct” spelling, but I instinctively spell it [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] because that was the spelling I first saw, in the film Age of [name_f]Adaline[/name_f]. In fact, I didn’t know that it was a variation of [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] until recently.
I want to like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] because I now know that it is the more popular and widely accepted spelling, but it just doesn’t look right to me after years of thinking of [name_f]Adaline[/name_f]. When I go to write the name that’s the spelling I write out first.
Tldr: Argh!! Spellings!!
I might pronounce [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] like Ay-dah-line but maybe not? I think it would honestly depend on the day lol. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] just looks much prettier and more vintage IMO. I also love [name_f]Ada[/name_f] but [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] just looks like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] spelled wrong to me. And I love that movie but I assumed it was spelled [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
It won’t let me edit the original post but I’ve made a new poll here: New poll! Adeline v Adaline v Adelaide
