Mirabelle vs. Mirabeau

We’re trying to decide between two names for our baby girl. Which do you prefer?

[name]Mirabeau[/name] (pronounced mir-uh-boo) [name]River[/name] or [name]Mirabelle[/name] (also [name]Mirabel[/name]) [name]River[/name]??

I prefer [name]Mirabelle[/name]

I prefer [name]Mirabelle[/name], I think [name]Mirabeau[/name] would be hard to age with…

EDIT:
beau pn as “boo” makes it seem hard to age with because a lot of times parents will say “Lily-boo, Sarah-boo, Jonny-boo” etc… to a baby, at least where I’m from. I live in America.

I’d go with [name]Mirabel[/name], even though I don’t like the -belle trend, because -beau is a masculine ending in French and it feels wrong to put a masculine ending on a girl, though I guess it’s really no different than [name]Madison[/name]/[name]Mackenzie[/name] etc with the -son and mac- indicating male. [name]Seven[/name] years of French class is guiding me away from [name]Mirabeau[/name] on a girl, though.

I like [name]Mirabelle[/name] much better. Has more of a classic feeling to it. I also really like the spelling [name]Mirabel[/name].

[name]Mirabelle[/name] for sure!!!

[name]Mirabeau[/name] is adorable, but it does remind me of caribou and the ending does sound pretty masculine.

[name]Mirabelle[/name] is stunning.

[name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]River[/name] is a great name.

[name]Mirabelle[/name]. I’ve always thought it was gorgeous. It sounds so pretty with [name]River[/name]!

I automatically pronounced [name]Mirabeau[/name] as Mih-rah-bo (bo rhyming with no) and I don’t really see where you’re getting the other pn from. The ‘bo’ ending is alright, but I really dislike the ‘boo’ ending. For some reason it doesn’t sound much like a name to me.

[name]Mirabelle[/name] is gorgeous! I’ve never understood the -beau endings, since it typically signifies masculine in French.

[name]Mirabelle[/name] 100%

Definitely [name]Mirabelle[/name]

You are absolutely correct on this pronunciation. [name]Beau[/name] rhymes with ‘no’. Like a bow in a girl’s hair.
[name]Mirabelle[/name] for sure!

[name]Mirabelle[/name]! I don’t like -beau endings on names.

In case it isn’t already obvious, the clear winner is [name]Mirabelle[/name]!

Also, as others have noted, the correct pronunciation of “beau” is “bo” not “boo.” If you want the “boo” pronunciation, you’d have to spell it another way, like Mirabou, which looks and sounds kind of silly, in my opinion.

Agree with all… [name]Mirabelle[/name] much prettier ([name]Mirabel[/name] even better), -beau ending prn ‘bo’ and French masculine.
[name]Mirabel/name [name]River[/name] is beautiful!

[name]Mirabeau[/name] is a masculine name and [name]IMO[/name] it doesnt cross over very well to girls. [name]Mirabeau[/name] B [name]Lamar[/name] was a famous bearer of the name so I can’t see it on a girl.

Should maybe note this is not really used as a person’s name in France, it’s a place name and is assigned a male gender whereas Isabeau is a proper name despite the same ending and is épicène i.e. unisex.
