Miranda

[name]Just[/name] after everyone’s thoughts and opinions on the name [name]Miranda[/name]… Dated or timeless? Thanks

I wouldn’t call it timeless, but I don’t find it dated either. I really like [name]Miranda[/name] and the meaning is awesome.

I like [name]Miranda[/name], but don’t love it. I just personally think there are other shakespearean names that are more lovely. I agree with Dindlee, that I wouldn’t call it dated…but I wouldn’t call it “timeless” either.

I don’t know where you are, but there’s a British comedian named [name]Miranda[/name] [name]Hart[/name] who’s had a recent TV comedy show called [name]Miranda[/name]. It’s my first thought on hearing the name, though it may be because my sister is obsessed with it and has the DVDs. I don’t know if it’s shown elsewhere but it’s pretty well-known over here.

Viewing the name without association, I think it’s a nice enough name but I agree with PP that there are nicer Shakespearian names. I would put it more into dated than timeless category only because I don’t know of any young Mirandas, they’re all 30+.

I have always been partial to [name]Miranda[/name]. It’s so lovely. I don’t think it was ever popular enough to feel dated.

[name]Miranda[/name] is gorgeous. Plus there is the added bonus of the nicknames [name]Miri[/name] and [name]Mira[/name].

I like it. My cousin’s sister is named [name]Miranda[/name]. She doesn’t have a nickname as far as I know. I also wouldn’t call it dated or timeless.

It’s one of my favorite girl names. I love the [name]Shakespeare[/name] connection and all the name bearers I know are so sweet.
The name is not timeless and, despite the fact [name]Miranda[/name] was at its popularity pick in the 1990-s, I can’t call it dated either, as others have said.

I like the name [name]Miranda[/name]. I wouldn’t call it dated, if only because I don’t think I’ve ever known a [name]Miranda[/name] so I don’t associate it with a certain era.

[name]Miranda[/name]'s gorgeous!

I agree with the PPs–[name]Miranda[/name] is not dated or classic. [name]Laura[/name] Wattenberg, at The [name]Baby[/name] Name [name]Wizard[/name], calls [name]Miranda[/name] a “[name]New[/name] Classic,” and I think it’s a good description. It’s a name with history, more steady than flashy…one that’s not particularly easy to date, but lacks the creds to be a true classic, à la [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]William[/name].
