I know a few sets of multiples that have names that don’t even sound like they should be in the same family.
[name]Elder[/name] and [name]Darren[/name] (both boys)
Zeben and [name]Nathan[/name] (both boys)
[name]Merritt[/name] and [name]Ian[/name] (girl/boy)
Wise and [name]Connor[/name] (both boys)
[name]Makena[/name] and [name]Pete[/name] (both boys) ([name]Makena[/name] is apparently a hawaiian boy name pronounced [name]Makenna[/name])
[name]Kahlil[/name] & [name]Benji[/name] (both boys) ([name]Benji[/name] is his full name)
[name]Kelly[/name] and [name]Katie[/name] (boy/girl)
[name]Brandi[/name] and [name]Peter[/name] (girl/boy)
[name]Haley[/name] and [name]Maren[/name] (both girls)
[name]Nicholas[/name] and Eidan (boy/girl) (Eidan is pronounced EYE din)
I actually quite like [name]Elder[/name] and [name]Darren[/name] together. [name]Haley[/name] and [name]Maren[/name] seem perfectly matched to me, too.
I guess the weirdest twinset I’ve ever heard is my husband’s cousin’s children. They have B/G twins named [name]Maddox[/name] [name]Bear[/name] and [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Louise[/name].
I don’t like it at all when twins (or even just siblings) have names very drastically different. In twins, they’re already going to get compared to one another their whole lives, and being the “weird” twin or the “boring” twin or whatever other label stuck on them based on naming could happen more so I’d think than if they both had names that sounded fitting together.
I think [name]Elder[/name] & [name]Darren[/name], [name]Merritt[/name] and [name]Ian[/name], [name]Kahlil[/name] & [name]Benji[/name], [name]Brandi[/name] and [name]Peter[/name], and [name]Haley[/name] & [name]Maren[/name] are good matches.
Cringe-worthy: Zeben & [name]Nathan[/name], Wise (seriously!?!) & [name]Connor[/name], [name]Makena[/name] & [name]Pete[/name], [name]Kelly[/name] & [name]Katie[/name] (sounds like someone wishes they would have had both girls! Poor boy!!), [name]Nicholas[/name] and Eidan (same thing, girl’s name sounds very masculine and is almost the popular boy’s name [name]Aidan[/name])
I know a set of twin boys that the parents used a very common and popular name ([name]Jack[/name]) along with a very unusual choice—[name]Smith[/name], for one twin’s first name. At first, I thought they were too mismatched and I found the choice of [name]Smith[/name] a little strange, but the set of names grew on me and now I quite like them. [name]Even[/name] though [name]Smith[/name] is a very uncommon first name, it’s obviously an extremely recognizable and common last name, so it works. [name]Both[/name] have a sort of old-timey, steampunkish vibe to me. At least they didn’t name them [name]Mason[/name] and [name]Aidan[/name] or something super boring and trendy!
I think they all sound fine. Minus [name]Kelly[/name] and [name]Katie[/name], maybe. [name]Just[/name] my opinion we shouldn’t have to spend so much time on matching names. (Of course the names can match or compliment each other if you want to. But we shouldn’t criticize names that don’t ‘match’). I just don’t like names that sound the same, rhyme, or end in the same sound/letters.
I know two twin boys named [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Lucas[/name], as well as two named [name]Brad[/name] (ley) and [name]Jeff[/name] (rey), two combos that I think are perfect matches. Also, sisters [name]Lucasta[/name] and [name]Callista[/name].
I know two siblings named [name]Michelle[/name] and [name]Michael[/name] (cringe)! A bit too matchy, don’t you think?
As for those who don’t match…
[name]Robyn[/name] and [name]Adrienne[/name]
[name]Timothy[/name] and [name]Carinna[/name]
[name]Daniel[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]Andrew[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], and [name]Connolly[/name] (girl, she’s kind of the odd one out)
I don’t like matchy names, but I don’t like names that are drastically different either. I know twin girls named [name]Gabriella[/name] and [name]Jordan[/name]. Their names make absolutely no sense to me. I know a set of quads the same way. [name]Jenna[/name], [name]Jayla[/name], [name]Ty[/name], and [name]Taylor[/name] (girl). [name]Taylor[/name]'s super popular, [name]Jenna[/name] and [name]Ty[/name] are moderately popular, and [name]Jayla[/name], while it sounds like many popular names, is quite uncommon. There’s a few girls on youtube with kids whose names don’t make sense like [name]Kaiden[/name] & [name]Kyson[/name] (super popular & super uncommon) and Braidon & [name]Andrew[/name] (very new & very old). Sometimes I just want to ask the parents what they were thinking.
As for the names you have listed, I think [name]Elder[/name] & [name]Darren[/name] and [name]Kahlil[/name] & [name]Benji[/name] go well together. [name]Elder[/name] & [name]Darren[/name] are both old and not popular, and [name]Kahlil[/name] & [name]Benji[/name] are both different & uncommon. The others don’t make sense, and I feel sorry for [name]Kelly[/name]. I don’t like [name]Kelly[/name] on a boy, but I know some people do. My problem with it isn’t that they named a boy [name]Kelly[/name], but that they gave his sister a matchy name to his, which gives me impression that they really wanted two girls. Or if [name]Katie[/name] is older, they matched his name to her’s, which still gives the impression that they wanted another girl.
And then there are the quads who are a grade below me named [name]Eric[/name], [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Charles[/name] “[name]Charlie[/name]” and [name]Lauren[/name].
Twins I know:
[name]Matthew[/name] and [name]Tyler[/name]
[name]Tiffany[/name] and [name]Melissa[/name]
[name]Ximena[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name] (my fav set of names)
[name]Hudson[/name] and [name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name] and [name]Katie[/name]
[name]Amanda[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name]
([name]Read[/name] without the periods)
Too matchy ([name]IMO[/name]):
[name]Alex[/name].is and [name]Alys[/name].sa
[name]Cy[/name].le and Ci.ara (pronounced: [name]Kyle[/name] and [name]Sierra[/name])
[name]Jen[/name].na and [name]Jo[/name].di
[name]Robert[/name] and [name]Roberta[/name]
[name]Don[/name]'t Go together ([name]IMO[/name]):
[name]Sam[/name].antha and [name]Eli[/name].ana - for some reason I don’t like these two together. [name]Samantha[/name] is a little dated to me and [name]Eliana[/name] is more “trendy”
[name]Deni[/name].se and [name]Ama[/name].nda - Again seem like there from two different decades
[name]Kate[/name].lyn R., Kel.sey R., & Rac.hel M. (triplets) - It just bothers me when you have triplets and you have two whose names have the same initials and another with a completely different set of initials. Either give them all the same initials or give them all different ones.
[name]Just[/name] Right:
[name]Meli[/name].ssa and [name]Brad[/name].ley
[name]Barbara[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name]
