[name]Do[/name] [name]Peter[/name], [name]Thatcher[/name], and [name]Carmine[/name] work as a sib-set or are they too mis-matched?
[name]Peter[/name] = classic, traditional, Greek
[name]Thatcher[/name] = surname/occupational name
[name]Carmine[/name] = Latin and romantic
They’re three different styles so they are mismatched. Some people aren’t bothered by sibsets. [name]Peter[/name] and [name]Carmine[/name] wouldn’t be too bad but [name]Thatcher[/name] looks like the odd one out.
I agree with mischa, this sibset is a little too mismatched.
I think it’s perfectly fine. Most people on Nameberry get SO uptight for the PERFECT match. A set like [name]Megan[/name], [name]Jake[/name], and [name]Tanaquil[/name] would make me do a double-take but for the names you’ve mentioned, they’re all so charming and lovely together.
Though I’m sure, my opinion is going to be in the minority on this website, and the majority in the real world.
I personally think, if you want to name your kids something, it doesn’t matter if it fits with the siblings. It is your child, not all of your children in one name. Sometimes, like eleminty said, i would take a double take but I wouldn’t rule out one name just because it doesn’t sound good with the others.
I think [name]Peter[/name], [name]Thatcher[/name], and [name]Carmine[/name] sound great together! <3
[name]Thatcher[/name] is a surname to me turned first name. Not a favorite of mine. Its kind of hard to say if you/the child had a lisp. Also what would the nickname be? Still its ok choice, but I think with [name]Peter[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] its stands out as a very different name.
Now [name]Carmine[/name] is old favorite of mine, but the only [name]Carmine[/name] I know is an old man who didn’t like his name. He found it too effeminate, especially when he was working as a police officer. He went by [name]Tom[/name]. [name]Peter[/name] is very masculine while [name]Thatcher[/name] and [name]Carmine[/name] sound more unisex to me.
So to recap I like [name]Carmine[/name] and [name]Peter[/name], [name]Thatcher[/name] is ok, but there are all completely different. And I would not use all together. Good luck!
It is, but it makes the sibset that much more interesting.
Thanks for the varied feedback. [name]Kinda[/name] sums up how I feel about them all together too. [name]Carmine[/name] is the one to probably get the ax and, for the record, the only [name]Carmine[/name] I know is [name]Carmine[/name] Raguso from [name]Lavern[/name] & [name]Shirley[/name]! The reason I asked is because the other names I like seem to have something “wrong” with them and I was trying to find a replacement. [name]Jack[/name], though I love it, is far too popular for me. The others are [name]Weston[/name] and [name]Robin[/name]. Our last name begins with W and DH doesn’t like the W-W of [name]Weston[/name] W. And [name]Robin[/name], well, if we named a boy [name]Robin[/name] he’d have the same name as a famous actor and DH doesn’t like the association, well, thinks it’s too strong still. I think I like the set of either
[name]Peter[/name], [name]Thatcher[/name], and [name]Robin[/name] or [name]Peter[/name], [name]Thatcher[/name], and [name]Weston[/name] than [name]Carmine[/name].
While I like sib-sets that match a particular theme, as long as you love the names, that’s all that matters. Your children will presumably have the same last name and I think that’s enough.
P.S. I actually know a [name]Robin[/name] W. who shares the name with a famous actor (although the [name]Robin[/name] I know is a woman). I’m sure nearly everyone makes the connection, but not that many people say anything to her about, and if they do, it’s just one time (and along the lines of “like the actor?”).
