A local paper published the top names at a surburban [name]Baltimore[/name], Maryland hospital today and I thought these were an interesting mix of traditional and trendy names that could show where the top US names end up at the end of this year. Thoughts, comments?
I was the most surprised by [name]Blake[/name] at #5 for the boys and [name]Natalie[/name] at #8 for the girls-- I would never have picked either of these names to be so close to the top.
I have to say that I’m extremely relieved to see only one Aiden name on this list. Hopefully that’s a sign…
I’m very interested to see where Harper ranks when the 2012 stats are released. Judging by the popularity lists I’ve seen released thus far, I predict top 40. I am so ready for Madison to go away. WHY is this name still so popular?? Take Riley away too. I’m sick of seeing it so high on the girls’ list.
I just love [name]William[/name], I don’t care if it’s more common, it’s classic and has a great history I too am happy to only see one [name]Aiden[/name] name, hopefully it is a sign!
Gosh, I really like [name]Blake[/name] but never expected to see it on a top 10 list…I don’t know if it is even in the top 50 in my state. No surprises on the girls side, except to see [name]Riley[/name] there. That has always been all boy to me, so I don’t see the appeal on a girl.
Agreed-- I don’t understand why [name]Madison[/name] continues to be so popular for the girls. [name]Riley[/name] is not my favorite for a girl either, but it at least seems a little more spunky than [name]Madison[/name]. I also agree with the [name]Aiden[/name] comments too-- I have a friend who seems to have a knack for picking trendy names-- she has a 3 year old [name]Cayden[/name] and is naming her soon-to-come son [name]Logan[/name]. To each her own though!
I am very happy to see [name]William[/name] and [name]James[/name] to up there at the top of the list. Also, [name]Caroline[/name] for the girls! This made me happy
I live in [name]Baltimore[/name] County, and it seems like the popularity of most names haven’t changed since I was born in the 90’s. Between my grade and a couple either side, I know several people with all of these names.
Is there a Ravens or Oriols player named [name]Blake[/name]? I just remember seeing stats in my state how [name]Chase[/name] was so popular and it was hinted that a Phillies player with that name gave it a pocket of popularity.
Jemama - my boyfriend’s dad is originally from [name]Baltimore[/name], and supports the Orioles, and he just told me that there is an Orioles player called [name]Blake[/name] [name]Davis[/name]. He joined the team in 2011. So it’s a possibility that’s the reason.
Interesting theory-- maybe it is [name]Blake[/name] [name]Davis[/name]-- [name]Baltimore[/name]'s mayor is [name]Stephanie[/name] [name]Rawlings[/name]-[name]Blake[/name], but I don’t think people are naming their children after her!
