MN for Astrid?

Not pregnant (that I know of) just yet but hopefully soon. We have our boy’s name pretty much set in stone, but girls’ names have always thrown us for a loop. The one I keep coming back to is [name]Astrid[/name]. I know that it’s a very divisive name and yes, I’m aware of the Office references and all that, but I still love it.

I’m looking for a middle name that will flow well with [name]Astrid[/name]. Our last name sounds like “Buh-HUN-yak.”

I prefer not to repeat first-middle initials. I really intensely dislike “typical” middle names such as [name]Rose[/name], [name]Leigh[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Ann[/name], etc. I want something pretty and feminine (to balance the “harsh” consonants in [name]Astrid[/name] and our last name), not predictable, but not completely bizarre either.

Right now my favorite combo is [name]Astrid[/name] [name]Noelle[/name], although I’m not sure if [name]Noelle[/name] is edging toward that “predictable middle” category.

[name]One[/name] more request: I get totally overwhelmed when I see long lists of names, so please try to narrow it down to your very favorites, maybe 5 max. :wink:

Thanks, Berries!!

[name]Astrid[/name] [name]Susanne[/name]

[name]Astrid[/name] [name]Shellaine[/name]

[name]Astrid[/name] [name]Patricia[/name]

[name]Astrid[/name] [name]Vera[/name]

[name]Astrid[/name] [name]Morgan[/name]

they are solid names but not used often for middles but are more on the common side compared to [name]Astrid[/name]…would you consider your middle name or another name sake?

@reeljagkb - my middle name is [name]Marie[/name] :wink: lol. So that’s part of the reason I really dislike “typical” middle names.

We have a son who is not named after anyone, so I would prefer not to name our 2nd child after anyone either. I don’t want our son to feel left out, nor do I want to insult other family members by naming this baby after someone but not the first one, if that makes sense.

[name]Astrid[/name] [name]Lucia[/name]

@lori johnson - [name]Astrid[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is on my shortlist as well =)

@kerrie - love [name]Carys[/name], especially since DS’s middle name is also Welsh (no reason for it as we aren’t Welsh, but it could be a subtle connection between the siblings), but I wonder if the combo is too out-there for a family that is full of Mikes, Bobs and Johns? =) It may be a bit “S” heavy as well, I’m not sure.

@viva - [name]Mila[/name] is one I haven’t considered, I like that one best of the ones you suggested. I also like [name]Astrid[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] but I think I prefer [name]Astrid[/name] [name]Lucille[/name].

Keep 'em coming, everyone! This is a great start so far.

[name]Maya[/name], [name]Miranda[/name] or [name]Imogen[/name]?

Oh & I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Astrid[/name]. I always thought that [name]Didi[/name] would be a cute nn to go with it too.

@irmum - intrigued by [name]Maya[/name]. [name]Miranda[/name] is a bit too “Sex and the City” for me. I have a crush on [name]Imogen[/name] but my mouth just won’t pronounce it smoothly, lol, so that’s out. (I have the same problem with [name]Aurora[/name]… why oh why must such pretty names be so hard to say??) :wink:

Are you pronouncing [name]Astrid[/name] with the d or without, as the Norwegians do?
