So after fretting and fretting about what to call this little girl we are having, I had a dream that we named her [name]Eva[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. Neither name was on my list before. My grandmother’s name is [name]Eva[/name], and my husband’s middle is [name]Joseph[/name]. I really like the combination, and the fact that I dreamed it seems to give it some weight to me. I like that there are tons of options for nicknames and that both [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name] are good for a grown woman as well. My inclination would be to call her [name]Josie[/name], and I’ve already been sort of calling her that in my head.
The issue is that DH doesn’t love [name]Eva[/name]. He thinks [name]Josephine[/name] should be the first name. I can go with that as this is the first name that has stricken me as a strong possibility that we have really had any level of agreement on. He keeps popping out middles that don’t work for me, so I am looking for some advice from the experts.
Our last name starts with a P and is two syllables. What do you all think would go well with [name]Josephine[/name]?
Could [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Eva[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Eve[/name], or [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name] be options? I think that any of those would be lovely.
I think [name]Eva[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is gorgeous! What are some of the names you and your husband have come up with? Maybe if you list them we can help you find one that works for both of you? If you like the [name]Eve[/name] name or sound you could go with
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Eve[/name] (I like this even if the ending sort of sounds the same)
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Yvette[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Sloane[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Hannah[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name] (I like this a lot)
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Cecile[/name] or [name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Helene[/name] or [name]Helen[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Francis[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Diane[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Noelle[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Estelle[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Berenice[/name]
I also like:
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Athenais[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] are my go to combos and I think they or similar sounding ones work well.
[name]Eva[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is beautiful and it’s really cool that it came to you in a dream. I bet your daughter will love that. What other names do you like or have considered? [name]Even[/name] if they don’t work with [name]Josephine[/name] it could help give us a sense of what your naming style is like.
I think [name]Josephine[/name] AKA [name]Josie[/name] is a great name (I associate it with [name]Josie[/name] and the Pussycats, the first girl band).
Something that says solid citizen:
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Suzanne[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
I also second the posters who suggested
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]
If you want to go in a more whimsical direction:
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Lenore[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Brigitte[/name]
[name]Love[/name] your suggestions! Dh actually wanted to name this lo [name]Violet[/name], but I nixed it due to the star baby factor. That said I also love [name]Mabel[/name], which has a high star baby factor, too. [name]Violet[/name] would probably work as a middle. I kind of like the idea of a 1 syllable middle to make a 3-1-2. DH suggested [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Mae[/name], but I think [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] is fantastic. Here is my official list of possibilities. Most are mildly DH approved. Others have been crossed of the list because DH hates them. For example, I love [name]Iris[/name], but DH grew up with a crazy [name]Iris[/name] who lived down the street, so it’s out. Sigh…
Here are my favorite of your combos:
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] (I have a niece with [name]Blythe[/name] for a middle, so probably wouldn’t do it, but it’s way in my taste zone.)
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
I’m still really fond of [name]Eva[/name] [name]Josephine[/name], and I love that it honors my grandmother as well as dh…I’m holding out hope that it will grow on him, but I love having some other great options to run by him.
Ds’s name was so easy. I don’t know why this one has been so tough.
