MN for lily

My hubby is pretty set on emerald for our middle name but I’m still not sure it goes right with our name. Our last name begins with B and is 3 syllables. So either convince me of emerald or that we should do one of the one syllable middles.:blush:

Not a big fan of sage. And yes, I don’t think we need two nature names (which I know emerald is nature too).

[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is my favorite. So sweet, but also classic and beautiful. :orange_heart: I prefer it to [name_f]Lily[/name_f] Emerald, just because both [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] are word names, and I personally prefer only one word name in a combo.

Right, this was my thinking too. Thanks for the input.

I’m [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and my mom calls me [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] sometimes. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it! And it seems like it would go best with your long last name.

Let’s say theoretically that your last name is Benedict, [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] and [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] sound fine together. I think what counters that is that the name [name_f]Lily[/name_f] ends in an E sound and [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] begins with E. It rolls off the tongue easy enough (unlike, say, [name_f]Elise[/name_f] Sage, where you have to pause for distinction or else it sounds like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] or [name_f]Elise[/name_f] Age), but if you care about the first and middle name sounding like completely separate names, I might go with [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or Bella.

I’d go with your husband’s choice if he feels strongly about it. But I like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] for a one syllable filler!

I like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] just to avoid the name being too wordy, however [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] is also pretty.

I’d also like to suggest [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] as maybe a compromise between green gemstones and 1 syllable middles. Plus [name_f]Jade[/name_f] feels a little less wordy then emerald to me.

Yes we like jade but we know too many people who have used it for a middle name.

[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is very sweet but [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Emerald[/name_f] is just so stunning and much less expected. I don’t think it feels too wordy, even with your potential surname. I also love that it’s her Dad’s pick! [name_f]My[/name_f] Dad picked my middle name and I always loved that my parents each got to use their favorites :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
