If this sweet babe is a girl (we are due in [name_u]July[/name_u]), her first name will be [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f].
I’m an Irish dual citizen (and we have an Irish last name), and both of our older kiddos have Irish names that are nods to family or Irish saints.
Our main issue is agreeing on a MN for [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]. So far, most of what we like veers off our theme of Irish names all together (eg: [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] Bohème, [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_f]Reverie[/name_f], [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_u]Shalom[/name_u], [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] {the last one is close being Welsh, but still not technically “Irish”}).
Does this matter? I don’t know… I feel like we’ve painted ourselves into a naming corner, so to speak. So, I’m open to opinions and suggestions, please!
Older siblings are [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_m]Colm[/name_m] and [name_f]Talullah[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] if that helps. [name_f]TIA[/name_f]!
I think that since you’re using a distinctively Irish first, with the traditionally Irish spelling that hasn’t really become used outside of Ireland or those without some Irish heritage, I think you could easily use a non Irish middle and it not seem strange at all. Moreover, it’s fine anyway! It’s better to just go with what you love. Saoirse Reverie is particularly gorgeous and I love Saoirse Anwen too
