I’m tossing around the possibility of adding [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] to my list as a FN, but I’m really stumped as far as middles go! What would you pair with [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]? I’ve thought about (and like) [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], but I’ve already got [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] on my list, so I’m hesitant to repeat it. I sort of like [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]/[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], too, but it almost seems too Irish for me, who has an almost negligible amount of Irish blood running through me.
Or alternately (because, if I didn’t use it up front, I’d want to use it as a middle), what FN would you use if [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] was in the MN spot?
What about [name_u]Shea[/name_u]? An easier sounding and looking [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], I think that all your options sound and look fine though. [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is adorable. [name_u]Shea[/name_u] [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] sounds nice too. Or [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Ronan[/name_m].
Thanks ladies! I think I like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] the best, but I’m thinking something maybe a little warmer and cuddly, and not so classic? I think [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] sort of softens [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]'s sharper edges, maybe, and I can see him being a cuddly little boy all the way up to a respectable, intelligent man.
Also, is [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u] utterly ridiculous? I think they’re close enough I couldn’t use both as FNs, but I feel like if I wanted [name_u]Rory[/name_u], I should just use [name_u]Rory[/name_u], and not try to use [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] to get to it. And if I had a [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], I wouldn’t want to use [name_u]Rory[/name_u], because [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]'s just too great to shorten. But I REALLY love [name_u]Rory[/name_u], too. I suppose I would have to decide which I prefer, [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]…
I love [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is really nice. I like the idea of pairing it with [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], more than the actual sound/flow. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though they have the same ending, I’ve always liked the pairing of [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. @emsky - yeah, I’m toying around with one day giving a [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] his own story, if I ever can get back into writing, so maybe that’s why I liked [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] so much? It’s just too Irish for me, but I love the two names together. I keep coming back to [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] or [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], because I seem to like “S” names with it, but I can’t seem to find another “S” name I like as much as [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. I don’t mind alliteration, but my current surname starts with an “R” so I feel like I should stay away from an “R” middle with an “R” first. ([name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] “[name_m]Roberts[/name_m]”? I guess it’s not awful, but I would pity him if he had a lisp!)
@gr19, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u], and [name_m]Linus[/name_m], but for some reason I just don’t like them with [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. I don’t know why I’m finding this so difficult. I like the idea of a classic -el Biblical boys’ name with [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] (hence, [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]), but I’m not a huge [name_u]Michael[/name_u] or [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] fan. I thought about [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], but it seemed a bit “N” heavy?
@gr19 - I actually really quite like [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]! I used to love it about five years ago, went off of it for a spell, but I’ve really been loving it again, and had no idea where to put it. [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] could be a definite possibility! I love some of the other middles–[name_m]Patrick[/name_m], [name_u]Finley[/name_u]–but I don’t know that I really want something Irish with [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]. It just feels too Irish for me. I love [name_u]Asa[/name_u] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m], but they don’t seem quite right with [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] for me, either…
