MN suggestions for Athalie?

Hey Berries–

[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] has recently made it’s way onto my list, but I’m struggling with a middle name. Currently, I have it paired with [name_u]Wren[/name_u], which I like pretty well. My first name style tends to be pretty classic, but I’m more open to other styles for the middle name. Last name starts with M and sounds similar to money. I’m not really concerned about the repeated “ee” sounds of [name_f]Athalie[/name_f] and my last name…my own name has that and it isn’t the end of the world.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks! =]

Wow, never heard of that name until now and I love it! I do quite like [name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u].

[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Maria[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]

Thanks! I had heard the name before, but never with this particular spelling. Usually, I’ve seen it spelled with a D ie [name_f]Adalie[/name_f], [name_f]Adalee[/name_f], etc. I don’t like that spelling or sound much, though. The ‘th’ gives it a vintage vibe to me and changes the sound just a bit. haha And thanks for the suggestions! I really like [name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], and [name_u]Clare[/name_u]. My step mother-in-law’s name is [name_f]Dawn[/name_f], so I’d have to decide if that was going to cause issues with the mother-in-law or not. lol

[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] is pretty!

[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Janessa[/name_f]

Thanks for the suggestions! I like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Joy[/name_f]. I tend to like shorter names with [name_f]Athalie[/name_f], I guess. haha I also really like [name_f]Janessa[/name_f] and [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] too, though. Definitely can’t use [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] (too many people with this name in my husband’s family), but I like the sound!

[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is so so cute, I also love the suggestion of [name_f]Joy[/name_f].

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f]. I had an acquaintance named [name_f]Athalia[/name_f] but literally never heard [name_f]Athalia[/name_f]/[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] being used anywhere else.

[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f]

I’m glad [name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is getting a bit of love. I know [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is a super trendy name right now, but I love it anyway. =]

I do like [name_f]Joy[/name_f], as well, and the suggestions of [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. One of my best friends has two little girls with the middles [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f], though. It doesn’t make them unusable, but I hesitate just because we’re very close. [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] (family name actually), [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (also potential honor name), and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] I think are my favorites so far, but there’s been so many great ones! Thank you all for the lovely suggestions!

Also, @coddiwomple your username makes me smile every time I see it. It’s fantastic. lol

I love it’s English pronunciation, it’s so pretty and fairy-esque. A lot of people would want to drop the h I think. It reminds me of the film [name_u]Les[/name_u] Enfants Terribles so I’m really inclined to say it like ‘‘ah-tah-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]’’ but ATH-uh-lee is my favourite.

[name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], Athelie [name_f]Flora[/name_f] come to mind

I can’t say I love the name. Sounds like a bad variation of [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]/ie. I also think the “th” is confusing, for one (said t or “th”)? If former, to me, it’s way too hard and choppy, sounds like you’re scolding every time you say it. No softness, too much percussion. If latter, to me, it almost sounds like a lisp. But you weren’t asking for unsolicited opinion, sorry. I’d say maybe [name_u]Lee[/name_u] for nn? Unfortunately there don’t seem many good options and I think you would want one.

[name_m]Ah[/name_m], oops: you were looking for middle names. I guess I was trying to nickname my way out of this name and got distracted. Middle: again, if using hard “t” sound, you’d need something soft to undue the hardness of the name, I’d say. [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is fine.

@oliviasarah: I have not heard it pronounced ATH-uh-lee, just AT-uh-lee. =] I think it’s pretty either way, though prefer the AT-uh-lee pronunciation just a bit. Thanks for the suggestions! [name_f]Athalie[/name_f] [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is pretty cute! =]

@samsonite: I wasn’t really looking for opinions on the name, but I do appreciate the feedback. The name isn’t going to be everyone’s style and that’s fine. =] I personally do not like [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] or [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] and find [name_f]Athalie[/name_f] a far better alternative. I also am not worried about the “th” being confusing. My name is pronounced exactly as it is spelled and is very straightforward, but people still mess it up. People in her life will learn how to pronounce it. For the record, I pronounce it with a silent “h” as it is shown on Nameberry. As far as nicknames go, I have a few I like. Whether or not I’d use them, I don’t know as I like the name as it is. Thanks for pointing out some of the name’s downfalls. They’re something to think about, anyway, whether I agree or not. =]
