Modern middle for Theresa

So I’ve posted similar threads before but I’m still stuck. We’re not expecting now (just miscarried actually) but hopefully will be again soon.

I know some see [name]Theresa[/name] as dated but it’s a long time favorite and given a chance I’m going to use it. Our last name is Tys0n. I’d be happy enough with [name]Grace[/name] (a modern filler perhaps but that doesn’t bother me) but I find the addition of a 3rd “s” sound to her name a little much.

I’m also trying to avoid a middle name beginning with a vowel as I’m not fond of how her initials would create a “word” like T.A.T.

If our last son had been a girl we were going to go with [name]Theresa[/name] [name]May[/name] but I’ve since learned that combo is the first and last name of a British politician. And honestly I like [name]May[/name] as a nickname or first name but in the middle sometimes I find that it makes the full name sound like a sentence. [name]Theresa[/name] may ?

I am also a fan of [name]Theresa[/name] (dated or not!). I love [name]Tess[/name], too. I was going to say [name]Theresa[/name] [name]Kate[/name], but I see you already have a [name]Katharine[/name] (great spelling choice, btw).

[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]

I like these. Hubby has mentioned liking [name]Theresa[/name] [name]June[/name] in the past so I’m thinking that would be his favorite. He doesn’t like [name]Pearl[/name] and I think T.P. isn’t the best first and middle initials. I do think J. is a great middle initial. I like [name]Jane[/name] more than my dh does. I’d even use it as a first if I hadn’t used [name]James[/name] already. I like the flow of [name]Theresa[/name] [name]Faith[/name] a lot and visually I like the repeating “th” at the beginning of [name]Theresa[/name] and the end of [name]Faith[/name]. I know some people don’t like [name]Theresa[/name] because it’s too religious so I’m a bit hesitant to combine [name]Theresa[/name] with [name]Faith[/name]. I’m quite religious so it wouldn’t raise any eyebrows in my circle but I’m also aware that my daughter may not be as religious as myself and not at all moments of her life.

Thanks a bunch…

Maybe…
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Helene[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Blair[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]

I’m sorry for your recent loss. :frowning: I think [name]Theresa[/name] is a lovely name, and not used enough. I also like [name]Esther[/name] for the same reason.

Thanks for the sympathy. I felt like I should explain myself since before [name]Christmas[/name] I started a few threads for a “real baby”.

I like [name]Theresa[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] a lot and if I wasn’t concerned about [name]Theresa[/name] sounding dated that would probably be my first choice.

[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Belle[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Olive[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Nicole[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Noelle[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]

Good luck

((hugs))

I love all of [name]Lori[/name]'s suggestions. [name]Paige[/name] livens up [name]Theresa[/name] in a really refreshing way. [name]Beth[/name] is also uber sweet in the middle spot (but I fear [name]Theresa[/name] [name]Beth[/name] could too easily becomes [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Beth[/name] on accident, even if you intend to call a future daughter [name]Tess[/name] rather than [name]Tessa[/name]…or maybe that would only happen if you live in the US South.).

My only suggestion is [name]Theresa[/name] [name]Joy[/name].

I’m sorry for your loss OP.

I like [name]Theresa[/name]. It has a very gentle vintage sound to me, and also I knew a stylish and beautiful young-ish [name]Theresa[/name].

Modern, which for me seems to take the form of dreamy/faery-tale word names:
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Briar[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Peridot[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Fern[/name] (I did like [name]Faith[/name] but also like [name]Fern[/name] and it’s more just nature-y than explicitly religious…?)
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Dove[/name] - I admit I like all of the currently fashionable [name]Dove[/name]/[name]Wren[/name]/[name]Lark[/name] type bird names and I find [name]Dove[/name] slightly water-colour-y and not really appropriate as a first but I love it as a middle.
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Xanthe[/name] - not truly modern, ancient Greek actually, but highly unexpected and with the edgy X-effect.
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Jewel[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name] [name]Rue[/name] - I know the “regret” meaning puts some people off, but I don’t find it any sadder than [name]Mary[/name], and [name]Rue[/name] is also called herb-of-[name]Grace[/name].

Thanks for the kind words.

Hubby immediately liked [name]Theresa[/name] [name]Nell[/name] but I do worry about the initials T.N.T. we intentionally avoided K.A.T. for my daughter [name]Katharine[/name] though in retrospect I think it would have been fun. Hubby also says he likes [name]Grace[/name] best. Hmm.
