[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
For me, both these names give off very similar vibes, but I’d be interested in hearing what you all envision from them!
Also, which do you prefer - [name_f]Molly[/name_f] or [name_f]Betty[/name_f]?
Not sure if I’d use either as a standalone, but just curious.
Thank you so much!
I like [name_f]Betty[/name_f]! I’ve never met one who was younger than 60, and I’d love to. I’ve met so many girls and women named [name_f]Molly[/name_f] that it’s become quite commonplace to me, thus not my favorite.
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] . It feels friendlier
I prefer [name_f]Betty[/name_f] (even as a [name_f]Mollie[/name_f] ), though I’d likely use the full name [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f] instead of “just Betty.”
that’s interesting you prefer betty, even as a mollie! why so?
Also I’d use [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
good point! thank you
While I really have grown to like my name (mostly because it feels like me and I love that my parents picked it), I’ve never been a huge fan of it. I think mostly because it doesn’t have any nicknames (intuitive ones at least), and I’ve always wanted one. The fact that I am “just Mollie” was probably made more apparent as my sister’s name is Margaret (nicknamed Maggie), so I’ve always felt like she’s had a more full name than I. This aside, I personally get different vibes for Betty and Molly (the latter of which doesn’t have imagery for me). Betty is cottage core, children running and picking the wildflowers, baby bonnets, and loving animals. Molly just doesn’t have these vibes to me, and while it’s not negative, I think Betty fits my naming style more!
I like the sound of [name_f]Molly[/name_f] better
I just love the timelessness of [name_f]Molly[/name_f]!
I adore [name_f]Molly[/name_f]! It fits in with my favorites, names like [name_u]Holly[/name_u], [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Tillie[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. To me, it feels classic, wearable, and easily fits a variety of people. [name_f]Molly[/name_f] also feels very sweet, warm, and friendly while also having a serious and historic feel.
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] is a lovely name but I personally prefer [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] even more.
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] is a lot more common than [name_f]Betty[/name_f] so that could make it more wearable, however I like [name_f]Betty[/name_f]. [name_f]Betty[/name_f] was used by [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_u]Reynolds[/name_u] and [name_u]Blake[/name_u] [name_f]Lively[/name_f] for their baby and I think it’s precious! I also think names like [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] have similar vibes!
I really like [name_f]Molly[/name_f].
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
I think I like [name_f]Molly[/name_f]. It reminds me of a sweet little [name_u]Irish[/name_u] lass. I actually know (or have acquaintances of) three little Bettys! One is named [name_f]Betty[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u], but they mostly call her [name_f]Betty[/name_f].
Either way, I prefer them both for nick-names. So many great options!
Betty-Beatrice, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f], [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
Molly-Malin, [name_f]Malka[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Maureen[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
Thank you so much!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] those full name options!
I prefer [name_f]Molly[/name_f]. It seems more like a “whole name” than a nickname for me (a name that can be also a nickname) while [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is just very nicknamey for me (either a childhood nickname or the usual thing your grandma or aunt goes by?)
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] also sounds very “bitter” to me, so that does not help…
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] reminds me of daisies and meadows and cottagecore stuff. Very sweet and girl of the door in front of you, very kind yet perfect for every age. [name_f]Betty[/name_f] just reminds me of an old lady who never smiles… Maybe because I got influenced from Il Giornalino di [name_m]Gian[/name_m] Burrasca (a somehow famous Italian book for children) with this old aunt who is not like, the best lol, named [name_f]Bettina[/name_f]. And I am sorry if I offended any [name_f]Betty[/name_f] lover here.
[name_f]Betty[/name_f]!
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] - warm, cosy and friendly with a bit of sass, with strength too
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] - zippy, vintage, determined and sparky.
I prefer [name_f]Betty[/name_f] I think
I get very different vibes.
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] - Victorian maid. Cloth caps and aprons. I don’t like this name.
[name_f]Betty[/name_f] - mad men style 60s glamour. Like this name
As an aside there’s some similar names to [name_f]Betty[/name_f] that I really like, ie [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] and [name_f]Hettie[/name_f], that give me the [name_f]Molly[/name_f] vibe I’ve outlined. The vibe isn’t the reason I don’t like [name_f]Molly[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Molly[/name_f], especially spelled [name_f]Mollie[/name_f]!
