Mom messed a tradition up

Seconding everything she said. Also, I really like the sound of [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f].

Another vote for [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]! I don’t think your mother ‘messed up’ at all. She just gave you a name which she loved, and of course a lot of other parents loved too at the time. I think continuing the tradition will make your daughter’s name especially meaningful. I always wished I had a name with more meaning behind it than just ‘my parents both liked it’.

For what it’s worth, my daughter has the middle name [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], after my beloved grandmother. I also thought [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] was clunky and hard to fit into the middle place. But do you know what? We get so many compliments on her first/middle combo, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. And of course the connection to my grandmother makes the name extremely special to me.

Another vote for [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]! I think it is lovely and distinctive. [name_f]Liza[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] would also work well.

While probably not ready for a fn revival, [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] is, despite its over use by our parents generation, a unique and beautiful name.

Also, your family’s naming tradition is really lovely… and middle names (especially family names!) are often clunky and off-trend, that is part of their charm

That being said, I think both [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] are stunning names.

Others to consider:

[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Silvia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]

I agree with all the suggestions I’ve seen:

Middle names are not used very often and I think keeping the tradition alive is nice even if it’s a mouthful. I’d say just use the first you love and [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] for the middle.

However, I also kinda like the idea that you use your short form ([name_f]Jen[/name_f] or [name_f]Jenny[/name_f]) to keep the tradition going but also keep it kinda unique and cool.

Finally… [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] is a pretty cute name!!!

My first thought was to use a shortened form of [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] in the middle spot! Not sure if you’re keen on that but [name_f]Jen[/name_f], [name_f]Jenny[/name_f], or [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] could keep the tradition alive without sounding clunky! You could also use your middle as you suggested!
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Jenny[/name_f]
[name_f]Danielle[/name_f] [name_f]Jenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]
[name_f]Diane[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]
Etc.

Of your choices, I do like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]! I think it flows well without being too clunky!

A few others that might work, though not sure you’d like them:
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Carol[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Gail[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]

Best of luck!

I don’t think [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] is that terrible to use as a middle. I think is actually works really well with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Diane[/name_f]. You certainly don’t have to keep with tradition, but I would sooner go with [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] than with [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]. If you decide to break with tradition I’d go all out and not use a family name at all.

You don’t have to keep the tradition if you don’t want to and it’s ok. Traditions comes and goes all the time. [name_m]Just[/name_m] follow your heart.

I agree with the previous posters, [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] works really well as a middle name. I once met a little girl named [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] and really like the sound of it. Of your choices, I love [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]!

I think [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] is fine as a middle name. It honors you and the tradition in your family. Middle names are really incidental. Your daughter can be proud about the tradition when sharing her middle name!
