Hello fellow 2020 Momberries!
How are you and your little ones doing?
How do you feel about your baby’s name now? What responses have you received?
My baby boy arrived [name_u]October[/name_u] 2, and I’ve been soaking up the sweet little phase. I’m the only name nerd in my community, so I think people were impressed by the intentionality that went into his name . It’s a sweet spot name, familiar but uncommon, so there was some pleasant surprise in reactions. I’m a nickname junky. We call him by a nickname but didn’t announce it or ask people to use it. It’s been fun to hear friends pick up on the nickname and use it affectionately.
Hi!! I had my baby boy [name_u]October[/name_u] 11. He’s so awesome! He’s my third and is super chill and so far, my best sleeper of the three. We named him [name_m]Oskar[/name_m] [name_m]Karl[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m]. Most people have responded really well to it and think it’s cute! We call him [name_m]Ozzie[/name_m] or Oskie, but mostly just [name_m]Oskar[/name_m].
What is your son’s name?

I love the name! [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is at the top of my list for the next baby that we might or might not have, and [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] is my favorite gp name (it would be tough in our second language).
Mine is ®uben [name_m]Wells[/name_m].

What a great name! I agree, that definitely a sweet spot name. What is your second language, if you don’t mind me asking?
Spanish. I live in Central [name_u]America[/name_u].

Hey! We are doing pretty great, all things considered! Working on getting my son (born in Feb 2020) to sleep better…or at all…so there’s that haha
We still love our son’s name. We’ve felt no regrets although I do feel a bit awkward that it doesn’t fit with any other style of name we like, for future sibling names and just in general. Honestly, 2 people have said they liked our son’s name, Berries excluded. We didn’t choose it for likes but we see the responses to other kids’ names and it makes me wonder if he will be bullied for his name or something. One relative, when we texted him that the baby was born, didn’t say congratulations or anything. He literally just texted back the baby’s name with a bunch of question marks.
I ended up making a status about his name, the meaning behind it, the significance it holds for us, how to pronounce it and so on. We got a few comments going “Oh…” So…yeah. Oh well I guess.

Very cool! Yes, I could where [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] could be problematic, then.

That’s interesting, I actually know an [name_m]Elam[/name_m] (spelled differently than your son but I believe pronounced the same way?) IRL and I think the name is super cool! A little bit [name_u]Eli[/name_u], a little bit [name_u]Liam[/name_u]. I think it’s a different name but familiar sounds.

I think it would be pronounced the same but yeah, that was one thing we liked about it. It is similar enough to very common names. I’m not sure why people so actively dislike it. Well, some relatives were turned off when we mentioned a religious aspect of it. Still…
My little boy was born on 31 [name_u]December[/name_u] so technically a 2020 baby, just!
It took me two weeks to name him and I finally settled on the name [name_u]Milo[/name_u]. I felt relieved for about a week just to have made a decision and to have everyone off my back about it but now I’m second guessing it again. He is 3.5 weeks old now and I still mostly call him ‘the baby’ and haven’t really got used to using his name at all. Sometimes I even forget what it is momentarily. I’m hoping it grows on me because it would be really awkward to change it after it’s been announced.

My twin sons were born on [name_u]December[/name_u] 7 at 32+2 weeks. They were supposed to be 2021 babies, but decided they didn’t want to wait any longer They’re both doing alright now, though the feeding was a bit of a problem until a short while ago.
They spent a little over 3 weeks in the NICU, we were able to bring them home on [name_u]December[/name_u] 31. That was also the first time my SO met his sons, since he tested positive for COVID not long before they were born and wasn’t able to be present at the birth or visit them at the hospital. It was also the first time they met their older brothers.
We named them [name_m]Leonid[/name_m] Pythagoras and [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] Zakynthos. We decided on [name_m]Leonid[/name_m] Pythagoras early in the pregnancy, but [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] wasn’t definitively named until he was born. We knew his middle name would be Zakynthos, but we still had a few options for the first name.
People were mostly positive about their names, although we’ve noticed that some people aren’t sure how to pronounce [name_m]Endymion[/name_m]. I already have two older sons, so I suppose everyone knew not to expect an [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] from us
I’m not entirely sure about a nickname for [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] though. For [name_m]Leonid[/name_m] we use [name_f]Lenya[/name_f] a lot of the time, and for [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] we thought of Dymi, but it doesn’t feel quite right. It’ll come to us, I guess

@namergirl3 That’s rough. I like boy names that have soft L sounds and are heavy on the vowels, so I’m a fan! We had some backlash when we named our first daughter. It’s a frustrating situation to be in.
I here you on the sleep! We’re in our first sleep regression, and it seems never ending!
I’m sorry the reactions to your son’s name aren’t positive. I think it’s a lovely name.
I’ve had the same reactions to all four of my sons’ names. With my oldest I got a lot of “oh, it’s Icelandic”, but with [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m] it was just plain “oh, right…”. Same with the twins. The one that gets the most positive reactions, I feel, is [name_m]Leonid[/name_m]. I used to get upset about it, especially with [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m], but that’s linked to my general anxiety level as well. I try to ignore it now, but I must admit I sometimes feel envious of the 100th mother I know naming her son [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and getting showered with compliments. Nothing wrong with [name_u]Noah[/name_u] by the way, just an example
