Month Names

I think June, Mae, and August are all pretty names, but I am so confused. Do you name your kid August in August? June in June? How does it work? This goes for Winter/Summer. Does anyone understand seasonal dependent naming etiquette?

Personally if I like the name I’d call them it regardless of what month/season they were born in. To me it’s no different than using [name_f]Holly[/name_f], [name_m]Noel[/name_m] / [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] etc. all year round & not just at [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] time

Based on seasonal/month-named people I’ve met, generally parents just use them whenever - they’ve just like the name  Neither [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] I’ve met was born in [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] and at least one [name_f]Summer[/name_f] was a winter baby.

I don’t think it matters it’s more so what your preference is. I know some people who love certain month names but avoided using them if their baby was due or born in that month or around that time of year. I know other people who prefer to name their kid a month name only if they are born in that month

You could even use a month name for other reasons like honouring someone by their birthday/anniversary month, or if you met your partner in a certain month/season as an honour name for your child

I don’t think there’s any mandatory etiquette with it, it just truly depends on how you feel with the name!

I don’t think it matters. I read about a [name_f]June[/name_f] who was born in [name_f]November[/name_f] :joy:

I think can be used at any time:blossom::black_heart:🩵

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]September[/name_f] for a girl and [name_f]October[/name_f] and [name_f]November[/name_f] as middle names for a boy :maple_leaf::cherry_blossom::tulip::black_heart:

I still think [name_f]April[/name_f] is the best even though it has gone out of style. [name_f]June[/name_f] is second

tbh I would throw out the rules - I can understand the desire to pick a name that celebrates the period in which one’s child is born, but if I loved [name_f]Winter[/name_f] or [name_m]August[/name_m] or [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] I wouldn’t want to limit my use to a specific day, month, or season! Some people use the seasonal names only in that specific season; others use it whenever they want… so I would say just use it when you want to. Plus choosing a time name like this could be an honor for a special family member, so in that case, it likely wouldn’t be the child having the name in their birth month/season/day, anyway? So for me, I would leave it up to the namer. I think certain names (like [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] names like Noelle) tend to get reserved for [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] babies, but not always!

I’ve never known there were rules about naming a baby a month or season name in that specific month or season
To be frank, I personally dislike it but I love month/season names

It doesn’t màtter at all. [name_m]Just[/name_m] choose the name you love. I think it’s unlikely anyone will question it. I always loved the idea of calling a baby girl [name_f]April[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], regardless of when she was born.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite month name is [name_f]November[/name_f], with nicknames [name_f]Nova[/name_f] or [name_f]Ember[/name_f]. I know several ladies named [name_f]April[/name_f] and not all of them were born in [name_f]April[/name_f], so I don’t think it’s really something most parents feel like they need to stick to.
