[name]Madeleine[/name] sounds out easier and is more authentic. I prefer it to [name]Madeline[/name].
We are going to name our daughter [name]Claire[/name] [name]Madeline[/name]. When we told my father-in-law and my sister-in-law the name, they both pronounced it [name]MadeLINE[/name]. I had no idea that people would mispronounce this name. Now I am wondering about the spelling as well. I think that [name]Madeleine[/name] would be pronounced correctly, but I think that [name]Madeline[/name] is a more popular spelling. Have you considered [name]Madelyn[/name]?
The spelling [name]Madeleine[/name] stops all confussion with [name]Madeline[/name] although both names are lovely.
