Thank you everyone for your opinions. We were able to sit down last night and got rid of [name]Roxy[/name], [name]Kyra[/name],[name]Fern[/name] and [name]Asher[/name] for good thanks to your help. Also, much to our chagrin, [name]Wolf[/name] is out too. We don’t have the guts to use it as much as we love it.
I noticed the [name]Thea[/name] (THEE-uh vs [name]TAY[/name]-uh) debate and I wonder if I complicated things unintentionally. We’re not native English speakers and transliteration is not our forte.
THEE-uh is my attempt to immitate the sound of a name where ee sounds like [name]Lee[/name] or [name]Reed[/name]. The pronunciation we’re angling for is much like actress T”a [name]Leoni[/name]'s name. Where e is like the “e” in [name]Elijah[/name].
I picked this name because my grandmother’s name was [name]Dorotea[/name] and wanted to honor her by upgrading her name. [name]Do[/name] you think that it’s too much of a complication? Should we scratch it to avoid confusion? I was also thinking of shortening my mother’s name [name]Teresa[/name] into [name]Tess[/name] or [name]Tessa[/name] and use one of those intead of [name]Thea[/name].
And of course, we could not resist into adding another name for the girl’s list. We got rid of [name]Kyra[/name] but not my husband is thinking of using [name]Lyra[/name]. I think those are too many “i” and “y” sounds in a name.
WDYT?
