I have recently started to love this name because I realized it can honor my mom, [name_f]MIL[/name_f], and grandma. I voted for [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. I have also heard [name_f]Lily[/name_f] can be a nickname although it doesn’t seem as intuitive.
I voted for [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. Second choice would be [name_f]Bea[/name_f].
I don’t think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is too much of a stretch (the [name_f]Queen[/name_f]'s nickname is Lilybet). However, I don’t really like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
[name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Libby[/name_f] all strike me as outdated.
Can [name_f]EliZabeth[/name_f] go by [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]? I love [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] but I don’t want her to have to constantly say “[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] spelled with an S.” I am also afraid of people pronouncing it E-[name_u]LISA[/name_u]-beth.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nicknames are [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], [name_f]Betty[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. And Bitsy, though that is a silly one more for babyhood than beyond.
On your list, my favorite is [name_f]Libby[/name_f]. [name_f]Beth[/name_f] is very dignified, though.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_f]Libby[/name_f], followed by [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] isn’t my favorite [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nickname, but I think it’s less of a stretch than [name_f]Bea[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is actually [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f], but out of your choices my favorite is [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] sounds adorable, and I can imagine a little girl running around with the name.
I voted for [name_f]Libby[/name_f], easily my favourite of those listed.
I like [name_f]Bea[/name_f] (or [name_f]Bee[/name_f]) but I would not think of it for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as much as for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].
I would prefer Lilybet/[name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f] to [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as a NN for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. because I think it makes the connection to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] much clearer.
I voted for [name_f]Libby[/name_f]! I absolutely love it.
If you want to use the nickname [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], I would spell it [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. Yes, she will have to spell it. People are always going to assume it’s [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. But I don’t think there will be pronunciation issues.
I love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]! And I think it’s fine to have [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], spelt with a Z.
[name_f]My[/name_f] sisters name is [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] (NN [name_f]Liz[/name_f]), and it never bothered her. She doesn’t mind when people spell her name wrong, and never attempts to correct or advise them, except on legal documents. I picked [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] NN [name_f]Lily[/name_f], though I prefer [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a perfect nickname, and sweet too; while [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] serves as a nice time-honored family/historical name (which it inevitably is).
I also voted for [name_f]Lily[/name_f], even of it is offbeat. But my favorite [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn is [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]. So sweet and vintage.
I like nicknames not listed the best, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Betty[/name_f] or [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]. [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is my favorite of the ones listed.
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] will have her name mispronounced or misspelled all the time but having experience with both, it’s not so bad. I would only go that route if you really preferred the sound of the s over the z because otherwise it might not be worth the hassle…doesn’t matter if it doesn’t match up with an s nickname. I mean, [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is a nickname for [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. A one letter change is small potatoes. So the nickname Lily works well. It’s not traditional but what does that matter anyway?
