It’s ridiculous how difficult it’s proving to be to find and agree on a MN for baby girl #2, [name]Waverly[/name]!
DD#1 ([name]Auria[/name] Rheaume - pronounced [name]Ray[/name]-owm) has a family name (my middle name, my mothers maiden name) as a MN and I always planned to pass the name on so there wasn’t much thought to it.
I’ve been trying to stick with super feminine options with only one or two syllables (our LN is a mouthful on its own with 4 syllables) but there are some options I love that just don’t follow suit.
Here are the current names on my ever-changing list.
Please share your thoughts!
I would definitely go with something clearly, undeniably feminine in the middle, so I would skip over your DH’s top choice, they make the combo sound way too ambiguous. [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Karis[/name] and [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name] have the best flow, [name]IMO[/name] and are both clearly feminine.
With your long surname, how about something like [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Kate[/name], [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Jane[/name] or [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Mae[/name]? It looks like I’m drawn to another name with a long a sound. I think with a three syllable first name and a four syllable surname, one syllable and clearly feminine would be best in the middle.
I completely agree about the ambiguity of [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Reese[/name] but my husband doesn’t agree that it’s an issue. I, however, can’t get past it, which is why I am mostly leaning toward ultra-feminine names.
I really love [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Karis[/name] but DH doesn’t care for it (very disappointing). I love the way [name]Carys[/name] looks but from my limited experience (aka polling some friends and family) it seems that virtually no one would pronounce it correctly. [name]Karis[/name] seems to be more people friendly.
I’m not sure what it is but I just never seem to like the super compact names like [name]Kate[/name] & [name]Jane[/name]. Perhaps it’s because we live in Kentucky and 80% of people around here have those types of names so they seem a little plain to me.
I guess I just like something with a little more flair… which is why I like the one-sylablled [name]Reese[/name]. [name]Just[/name] not to be paired with [name]Waverly[/name] because of it’s aforementioned ambiguity.
