So with all the birthday parties that we host at my work, we see a lot of kids come through with unusual names (of course for every one of these kids, I guarantee I count four [name]Emma[/name]/[name]Isabella[/name]/[name]Olivia[/name]'s). Most of them are girls, though there are some boys. Here are the ones I can remember from the last two months or so.
Cuillynne - pron. QUEE-lin
Spree - girl
[name]Eveline[/name] - pron. like [name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Appoline[/name]
[name]Vyolette[/name]
[name]Toni[/name] and [name]Bobbi[/name] - sisters, and yes, these were their full names.
[name]Sammi[/name] and [name]Alli[/name] - twin sisters - again, their full names.
[name]Avery[/name] and [name]Brooke[/name] - also twins.
[name]Logan[/name] x2 - one boy and one girl
[name]Nancy[/name] - about two years old
[name]Jenifer[/name] - not a typo
[name]Cross[/name] - boy
[name]Bianca[/name] - not of Hispanic descent. She comes in all the time, actually.
Georgian - pron. like [name]Georgianne[/name]. Chinese descent. She has a little sister [name]Joy[/name] and a little brother [name]Hansen[/name]. LN rhymes with [name]Tan[/name].
[name]Abrianna[/name]
Brieana
Natahlya - I was tempted to pronounce it Nah-[name]TALLY[/name]-uh just to annoy them.
Naleigh - less than a year old.
And of course, there’s always one name that just makes you go ‘WTH’…
Zeairraiyyah - pron. Zer-EYE-uh
WDYT? I was surprised to meet a little [name]Nancy[/name] and [name]Appoline[/name]. But I think we all saw Naleigh coming after [name]Katherine[/name] Heigl started calling her daughter [name]Nancy[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] “Naleigh” for short.
Zeairraiyyah??? That poor girl!
I can’t believe all of the yooneek spellings… I see them all the time at my work, too! I just might make a list and come back with another post.
I personally love the name [name]Bianca[/name]. I would never use it for a daughter, though.
I’m so pleasantly surprised to see [name]Appoline[/name]! The others are disappointing though. I know the feeling because I work at a children’s store and hear some really awful names too. I try not to laugh. I have a friend [name]Evelina[/name] (Ev-uh-[name]LEENA[/name]) who is from Bosnia. I think it’s beautiful but I don’t like [name]Eveline[/name] pronounced like [name]Evelyn[/name]. I guess they’re just trying to be “yooneek.”
