These are two names that I love. They are not on my list but I like the dark, gloomy image they give me of ravens, rain, old castles.
What do you think of
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f]
Morrígan (Morrigan)
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] means “maiden, girl”. Morrígan means either “great queen” or “demon queen”. She is associated with crows.
Please be honest.
And thanks for being such a nice forum! I love this place because people are honest but never rude. Made some different experiences recently (not on a name forum but a general forum).
i love morwenna, especially with the nickname ‘winnie’! i’ve never heard of morrígan, but it has a nice flow and feels distinctly feminine, though it sounds quite neutral. morwenna is definitely my favorite of the two, but both are great names!
I like both a lot! [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] has the edge for me because [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] seems likely to be confused with [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], which I’m not as keen on.
[name_u]Madigan[/name_u] is another similar name you might like.
Both are very cool names! The only downside to [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] is when I say it out loud, it tends to just sound like [name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
STUNNING! [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] is actually on my own list and I have always adored [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] as well! [name_u]Love[/name_u] them for sister names actually! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the idea of the nickname [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] or [name_f]Mora[/name_f] for [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] and [name_f]Wenna[/name_f] for [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f]! <3 I get the exact same imagery you described in my head when I think of those names! The dark Celtic music is playing in my brain now!
I love both!! [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] for me feels really sweet/romantic/lyrical but that’s probably because there’s a character named that on a show I watched so I just associate it with her!
[name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] does feel darker and gloomier (in a fun way!) to me. I think since they give me such different vibes it’s hard to choose between them.
Morrigan’s on my list for names I’d use on a baby. I believe that says much about my opinions on [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f]. I love it.
Like you, I tend to like names with a really dark and witchy feeling to it. Goodness knows why. But both [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] and [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] come under that umbrella.
I have only recently discovered [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f], and let me tell you, I’m in love. I like that it is similar to both Morgan/Morgana and [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], yet has it’s own distinction. It also reminds me of [name_f]Morven[/name_f], another name I like.
[name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] is a guilty pleasure of mine. I think of a TV show character that’s dark, like you mentioned. [name_u]Dark[/name_u] and gloomy and I totally dig that. I love [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] and I think it has some extra spunk to make it stand out.
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] is fine to me. I think it would be cool to hear in real life but isn’t my style. I feel like my personal issue is I don’t know how to pronounce it easily. It’s not a natural roll of the tongue for me.
I think it is interesting that they both gave off such a dark vibe before I read their meanings. I can’t even think of any association I know of that would make me feel that way. They both feel dark, dreary and cloudy. They feel like Halloween and smoke billowing from pumpkins.
That said, I don’t really mind them. I don’t like them but I also don’t vehemently dislike them. They just aren’t for me
I like these names for the same reason, especially [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f]! I’ve loved [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] for a while. [name_f]My[/name_f] brother used to have a friend with an older sister named Morrighan. They feel similar in vibe to [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] to me, which I also love.
