Most Popular Girls Names At My School

Hey there everyone! So I’ve come up with a list of girls names that are really over-used at my school. Some of them might shock you, some of them maybe not. So here I go:

[name]Kenzie[/name]/[name]Kinzie[/name] - I know sooo many girls with this name . . . I can think of 7 off of the top of my head and I go to a small hillbilly high school in the middle of nowhere haha!

[name]Amber[/name] - I think [name]Amber[/name] is the 2nd most popular name. I can think of at least 3 girls with this name just in my grade alone!

[name]Sara/name - I actually like this name, but I would never use it because of its popularity. Last year in my band class, we had 4 girls named [name]Sarah[/name] and our band only had like 20 kids. It was kinda crazy

[name]Kendra[/name] - Surprisingly, I know quite a few [name]Kendra[/name]'s. This name sorta gets on my nerves.

[name]Samantha[/name] - Also quite common in my school, along with the boys name [name]Samuel[/name].

[name]Alexa[/name]/[name]Alexis[/name] - I can think of 2 girls with this name in my grade.

[name]Jordan[/name] - This name is also very popular . . . only amongst the girls though . . . I believe there is only 1 boy in our school with this name.

Well, those were just a few of the most popular names in my school. [name]How[/name] about I share some of the names that only one person has?

[name]Gloria[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name] (kind of surprising)
Shaelynn
[name]Maria[/name]
[name]Alyssa[/name]
[name]Paige[/name]
[name]Brittany[/name]
[name]Kelly[/name]
[name]Carissa[/name]
[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Allison[/name]
[name]Shelby[/name]
[name]Brooke[/name]
[name]Meghan[/name]
[name]Jamie[/name]
[name]Joan[/name]

What are some popular names at your school or workplace? Or just some popular names that you are tired of hearing? [name]Share[/name] your thoughts below! Thanks for reading! And [name]Happy[/name] [name]Easter[/name] everyone

I love that there is a [name]Joan[/name]!

Really? That’s interesting. I’m in the UK, and I’m the only [name]Amber[/name] in my school.

The names that are popular in my school for girls:

  1. [name]Eleanor[/name] / [name]Ella[/name] / [name]Ellie[/name], etc - I, personally, am so tired of the nickname [name]Ellie[/name]. ><
  2. Chloe - sort of fed up of this name too
  3. Emily - I like this name so I don’t mind hearing it a lot
  4. Amy / Aimee - it’s a cute name, but popular
  5. Hannah - in all different years
  6. Olivia - don’t mind this name but it’s still pretty popular

And for boys:

  1. Daniel - so many Dans.
  2. Harvey - you wouldn’t think it, but it’s popular
  3. Jacob - so many Jakes.
  4. Harry - there are so many that no one makes the Harry Potter connection
  5. Andrew - and three of them have the same initials

I got bored one day and created a most popular list of names for my school using last year’s yearbook. I lumped variant spellings together and used the most popular spelling for the list. Here are the top ten for girls:

  1. [name]Jessica[/name]
  2. [name]Lauren[/name]
  3. [name]Ashley[/name]
  4. [name]Brittany[/name]
  5. [name]Megan[/name]
  6. [name]Mary[/name]
  7. [name]Sarah[/name]
  8. [name]Elizabeth[/name]
  9. [name]Hannah[/name]
  10. [name]Katie[/name]

I should add that I’m in [name]Alabama[/name].

I’m a college professor in the U.S. (Maryland), and these are the 10 names I see most often in my classes:

  1. [name]Brittney[/name] (I once had four in the same class–drove me nuts!)
  2. [name]Alyssa[/name]
  3. [name]Ashley[/name]
  4. [name]Jessica[/name]
  5. [name]Megan[/name]/[name]Meghan[/name]
  6. [name]Lindsay[/name]/[name]Lindsey[/name]
  7. [name]Emily[/name]
  8. [name]Briana[/name]
  9. [name]Hannah[/name]
  10. [name]Kristen[/name]/[name]Kristin[/name]/[name]Kristyn[/name]

With some exceptions, I think these lists only reinforce my rule of avoiding the top 25-50 most popular names in my area.

None of these really shock me, imo, this is what I’d expect to find in a highschool.

Of course they are what you would expect to find in a school; we’re listing the most popular names. :stuck_out_tongue:

Some one-of-a-kind names in my school:
[name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Aaliyah[/name]
[name]Hope[/name]
Ayalesh (AY-uh-lesh, almost AY-lesh)
[name]Kymberley[/name]
[name]Tanith[/name]
[name]Brooke[/name] (a boy)
[name]Bailey[/name] (two - one girl, one boy)
[name]Leighton[/name] (boy)
[name]Caius[/name]

[name]Hannah[/name], [name]Emily[/name], [name]Sarah[/name] and [name]Katie[/name]/every verison of [name]Catherine[/name] or [name]Caitlin[/name] you can imagine are definitely the most popular names in my school. For boys, it’s [name]Nick[/name] (I’m in a class with 12 people and there are two!), [name]Jake[/name], [name]Josh[/name], [name]Nate[/name] and [name]Caleb[/name]. So overused! I also work in an elementary school. There it’s all [name]Alena[/name]/[name]Alanna[/name]/[name]Elaina[/name] and any version of [name]Baden[/name]/[name]Bradyn[/name]/[name]Aidan[/name]. [name]Alex[/name] is probably the biggest name overall because it’s hugely popular for boys and girls.

I’m in Ohio, for reference point.

Lots of Emmas, Madelines and Jacobs, Zacharys in the lower grades! Only one [name]Lisette[/name], [name]Laurel[/name], and [name]Greyson[/name], [name]Mason[/name].
