Movie Name Game

I’m a big movie buff, so I thought I’d ask what some of your favorite names from movies are. Let’s break it down into genres. So, what are your favorite names from your favorite movies in each genre? (hope that makes sense!) You don’t have to have a name for all of them, but you certainly can! [name]Feel[/name] free to give an answer for both sexes or just one  And you can list other genres if I missed one!

Here’s an example:
Comedy : “The [name]Princess[/name] [name]Bride[/name]” - [name]Westley[/name]

[name]Love[/name] movies!
Here’s an example:
Comedy : “The [name]Princess[/name] [name]Bride[/name]” - [name]Westley[/name]

Romantic: [name]Kathleen[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] and [name]Joe[/name] [name]Fox[/name] - “You’ve Got Mail”. I think I’ve posted this before though.
[name]Sabrina[/name] and [name]Linus[/name] from “[name]Sabrina[/name]”.
[name]Anna[/name] from “[name]Roman[/name] [name]Holiday[/name]” - What was [name]Gregory[/name] Peck’s name in that movie?
[name]Rick[/name] and [name]Ilsa[/name] in “Casablanca”.
[name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] from “While You Were Sleeping”.
[name]Laszlo[/name] from “The English Patient”.

Action: I usually don’t like Action movies that much, but I thing [name]Steven[/name] Segal is really funny! I’m not sure that he is meaning to be funny, but to me he is a comedian when he does anything. There’s just something about his expression.

[name]Fantasy[/name]: I like that movie “The House of Sand and Glass” that has [name]Sandra[/name] Bullock and Keenu [name]Reeves[/name]. I forgot their names, but I loved their characters!

Comedy: I don’t know what [name]Cary[/name] [name]Grant[/name]'s name is in “Father Goose”, but I like him. And the French girl students have wonderful names, but I can’t remember what they are.

Musical: The [name]Captain[/name] [name]Gaylord[/name] from “The Sound of [name]Music[/name]”. I am in love with that character!

Family: I love the orange kitty [name]Thomasina[/name] in “[name]Thomasina[/name]”.

Horror: I love the name [name]Igor[/name] for a horror character. And [name]Vincent[/name] [name]Price[/name] had a great name!

Western: I like the name [name]Wyatt[/name] from “[name]Wyatt[/name] Earp” and [name]Mose[/name] from “The Searchers”.

I will try to think of more.

[name]Susan[/name], [name]Captain[/name] von Trapp’s name is [name]Georg[/name], the [name]German[/name] [name]George[/name], and is pronounced gay-orgg. I guess it does sound sort of like [name]Gaylord[/name]!

That is amazing! You have rocked my world. I feel better that his name is [name]Georg[/name] because I love it more than [name]Gaylord[/name]. Thanks!

You’re welcome! It’s my favorite movie, and I was unsure of his name until I wrote a paper on the actual von Trapp family when I was growing up!

(Still thinking of my answers for this game…)

I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Kathleen[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]! My favorite part of that movie is when [name]Meg[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] says her name and then does the little head bob. Makes me giggle everytime. My husband shakes his head at me because I do it along with her.

And the [name]Sandra[/name] Bullock/ [name]Keanu[/name] [name]Reeves[/name] movie is “The [name]Lake[/name] House” Their names are [name]Kate[/name] and [name]Alex[/name]

Romantic:
“The [name]Philadelphia[/name] [name]Story[/name]” - [name]Cary[/name] [name]Grant[/name]'s name C.K. [name]Dexter[/name] [name]Haven[/name] gets me every time! It sounds so high society to me, and I [name]LOVE[/name] it! It’s the reason I’ve put [name]Haven[/name] on my short list (for a mn) and [name]Dexter[/name] keeps jumping in and out of the list. [name]Jimmy[/name] [name]Stewart[/name]'s name here is [name]Macaulay[/name] [name]Connor[/name]. If DH wouldn’t have vetoed [name]Macaulay[/name] it’d be in the running too!
“[name]Love[/name] Actually” - [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Mia[/name], [name]Natalie[/name], [name]Joanna[/name], [name]Colin[/name]
“He’s [name]Just[/name] not that into you” - [name]Gigi[/name], [name]Janine[/name], [name]Beth[/name], [name]Neil[/name], [name]Jude[/name]

Action:
“The [name]Bourne[/name] Series” - holy smokes I love these movies  Was never a huge fan of the name [name]Jason[/name], but paired with [name]Bourne[/name] its intriguing. [name]Jason[/name] [name]Bourne[/name], [name]Ward[/name] [name]Abbott[/name], [name]Ezra[/name] Kramer
“Children of Men” - [name]Theo[/name], [name]Julian[/name] (as a girl), [name]Jasper[/name], Kee, [name]Nigel[/name], [name]Miriam[/name]

[name]Fantasy[/name]:
“[name]Lord[/name] of the Rings” - There’s a lot of really fun sounding names here, but I really like [name]Arwen[/name]. We really considered naming our puppy that.

Comedy:
“[name]Princess[/name] [name]Bride[/name]” - [name]Westley[/name]
“Legally Blonde” - Good names here! [name]Elle[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Vivian[/name], [name]Warner[/name], [name]Paulette[/name], [name]Margot[/name], [name]Serena[/name]

Musical:
“Singing in the [name]Rain[/name]” - While she is utterly annoying in the film, the name [name]Lina[/name] [name]Lamont[/name] is endearing to me.
“[name]Seven[/name] Brides for [name]Seven[/name] Brothers” - The brothers names are all pretty great. All biblical names in alphabetical order. [name]Adam[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Caleb[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Ephraim[/name], Frankincense (nn [name]Frank[/name]), and [name]Gideon[/name]. I’m quite partial to [name]Ephraim[/name]. I’ve always liked it. The girls are [name]Milly[/name], [name]Dorcas[/name] (eek! but played by [name]Julie[/name] Newmar), [name]Ruth[/name], [name]Martha[/name], [name]Liza[/name], [name]Sarah[/name], and [name]Alice[/name].
“Sound of [name]Music[/name]” - Great movie! I’m partial to [name]Liesl[/name] and [name]Brigitta[/name].

Family:
“Sleeping Beauty” was my favorite princess growing up. I was convinced my daughter’s name would be [name]Aurora[/name]. Did you know her “in hiding name” was [name]Briar[/name] [name]Rose[/name]? I think that’s very pretty!
“The Goonies” - [name]Clark[/name] [name]Deveraux[/name] sounds a bit better than “mouth” LOL! [name]Andrea[/name] [name]Carmichael[/name] (nn [name]Andie[/name]) is a name I wouldn’t mind having at all! I think [name]Andie[/name] is really cute!
“[name]Quest[/name] for Camelot” - I was obsessed with this movie (I was 13-ish at the time). All of my kids were going to be named from this movie (good news, I’ve changed my mind  ) [name]Kayley[/name], [name]Garrett[/name], [name]Ayden[/name], [name]Juliana[/name] (still very pretty!)
“Shrek” - She may be a green Ogre, but I do love the name [name]Fiona[/name]
“Enchanted” - [name]Giselle[/name]…just SOUNDS like a princess

Horror: not a horror movie fan…i get way too grossed out

Western:
“McLintock!” - my absolute favorite [name]John[/name] [name]Wayne[/name] movie. His name is [name]George[/name] [name]Washington[/name] McLintock (waay heavy!) but her name is [name]Katherine[/name], which is very pretty! And there is a character named [name]Devlin[/name] [name]Warren[/name]. I LIKE IT!

[name]Man[/name], I get carried away with movies! Whoops! That’s what four years of film school does to you. Sorry for the long, book of a post!

When my son was in high school, there were two [name]Katie[/name] Kellys in his class. I know for sure that the short one’s real name was [name]Kathleen[/name] [name]Kelly[/name]. The other [name]Katie[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] was really tall. So all the kids called them [name]Katie[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] Short and [name]Katie[/name] [name]Kelly[/name] Tall.
