Moving to North Charleston SC from West Coast, Parenting class questions

I want a specific kind of parenting class. [name_f]One[/name_f] that deals with dogs and a baby on the way, and also how to deal with the stress of all of it. I feel that if i could get that type of class out in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_m]Charleston[/name_m] I would be very grateful.

I have two wonderful dogs, they are little trying at times, but they are still so young, its like dealing with a two and a three year old. [name_f]One[/name_f] is 1 year and 1/2 (though that is 18 dog years, he acts more like he is three) he is a lab mix. I have a 10 month female yorkie mix, and she is the epitome of energetic and a cuddler. [name_m]Both[/name_m] great family dogs as far as breed standards go. They are both crate trained. And my lab mix has been in an apartment for almost a full year before we moved in with my in-laws earlier this year.

I would love the tips that could come from such a parenting class. Beyond learning different methods for childbirth, I would like something intune with my lifestyle and that lifestyle includes dogs. So if anybody knows any resources to look at, or have taken a similar class that lives in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_m]Charleston[/name_m], please let me know.

Thanks!

I don’t live in your area, but my advice is to contact an animal shelter in your new area or maybe ask your vet once you find one for your pets. I have 2 kids- one human, one mutt so I get the nervousness. I talked to our vet when I was pregnant and she eased my anxieties. The parenting class that I took at the hospital was all childbirth techniques and breast feeding advice. It was more on a medical level, not a lot about home-life. Good luck!

Talking with the vet is a good idea. Actually found what I was looking for after a quick google search so I decided to put it here for all expecting parents, especially those without any previous kids (expect the dog variety). If anybody knows of a specific dog training in [name_m]Charleston[/name_m] SC that deals with babies and dogs, that would help. Of course the vet may, but any one of you from the area, please let me know.

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully I can find something on this site for my area. Anybody else with any tips on what they did with their dogs, that would help. I’m really not worried at all about their behavior, just how to juggle the dogs, and baby, and get them used to a schedule that is a little more hectic than usual.
