Mozingo

I really like the idea of adapting and/or using family names when naming children; my older sister and I are both named in part for grandparents, and I plan on using [name]Ann[/name], [name]Olive[/name], or Averial as middle names for girls after some important women in my life. I would also like to use [name]Peter[/name] and Carrico/Carrick as potential boy names from surnames from my father’s side. However, my mother’s brothers have no children, so her maiden name won’t be carried on. Her maiden name is Mozingo. Feelings? Immediate response? I really am sentimental about the name, I’m just not sure how it sounds to strangers and I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas for first names or similar names. Thanks!

I think as a mn or 2nd mn Mozingo would be fine, esp with the family connection. If you weren’t sentimentally attached to it I might suggest something similar but in this case I think that important family ties always trump all - well at least for mn spots. I’d say use it for a mn!!!

I agree that if you love it and it has a lot of significance to you, you should use it as a middle name.

Mozingo will make a great middle name and I’m sure your positive feelings about it will only grow over time. It’s the kind of middle name a child might be a little shy about during those tender middle school years, when everything is embarrassing, but will be very proud of as they get older. And while it would be difficult as a first name, I’m kind of loving short forms Mozi or Zing!
