Are there names that you’d normally [name_u]Love[/name_u], but could never use because they’ve been ruined for you by a conceited classmate, corrupt coworker, aggravating acquaintance or an infected identity??
I have a few people who ruined some of my favorites…
[name_f]Danielle[/name_f] - Not nice to anyone. Always in a bad mood.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] - The old grouchy Principal at my grade school.
[name_u]Kimberly[/name_u] - The tom boyish bully in grade school.
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] - I know 3 [name_m]Robins[/name_m] and all are very snooty.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - Arrogant, know it all!
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] - The gossip girl in High School.
[name_f]Kayleigh[/name_f] - Hates everyone and everything!
[name_f]Cara[/name_f] - Unable to strike up a conversation. So overly withdrawn.
[name_f]Kristin[/name_f] - Nasty personality and lies.
[name_f]Marie[/name_f] - Very boastful…
Hopefully someday I can get over these!
[name_f]Share[/name_f] some of your lifetime Mucked Up Monikers.
I always loved [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] until I worked with a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] at a fast food place when I was in High School. She wasn’t very nice or helpful.
Also [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] is one that’s been ruined for me. I probably know 10 [name_f]Jessica[/name_f]'s that have been on the infamous list in some way or another.
Try being a school teacher! Great way to wreck perfectly good names. I know of lots of teachers who find it hard to pick names that don’t have bad connotations from some little ratbag.
Other names really mucked up for me would include [name_f]Amity[/name_f] (from whatever that Amityville movie is, I’ve never seen it). And [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] (will always be the Duchess of Cornwall to me, not that I have anything against her!)
It usually doesn’t bother me much if I know someone by a name I like who happens to be a not-so-nice person. I knew a [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] whom I really disliked, yet I’m considering this name for my baby ([name_f]Jemma[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Jemima[/name_f]). I’m able to get bad connotations out of my head quite easily. I never recall the nasty [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] when I hear her name.
Painful memories are what ruins names for me. I lost a very close friend a couple of years ago and I would never consider using her name. [name_f]Every[/name_f] time I hear it I just recall everything what happened.
@ spyri, you have some very good points that I totally agree with! @ polina, I envy people that can put the nasties out of their mind!
Some names that have been ruined for me are [name_f]Bella[/name_f] from the Vampire movies, and [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] because of the actress of the same. Also, [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] because of the numerous little spoiled pre school kids with these names. I work in retail part time and a day doesn’t go by with at least 2 or 3 of these screaming pre schoolers that come by the register!
I also can’t get over [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] and [name_u]Madison[/name_u], because of their overuse by both genders.
