Does the name Murphy strike you more as a male or female name? Or strictly gender neutral? Or do you only see it as a dog’s name?
I’ve had it on my list for a boy, but looking more into it, it seems like it’s actually more common for girls? That, or people feel very strongly that is is pure canine.
Association wise it leans masc, preference wise I prefer it as a fem name, but in general I think of it as unisex. And it’s kind of a dog name but not as much as other, if that makes sense?
I used to see it only as a boy name. But, I’ve met a girl named [name_u]Murphy[/name_u], and it actually fits quite well on her. So, like [name_u]Casey[/name_u], [name_u]Parker[/name_u], and [name_u]Alex[/name_u], I believe [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] could fit on girls as well as boys.
To me, it’s a masculine name that also works on girls. In the same way I know girls named [name_u]Tyler[/name_u], [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], [name_u]Ashton[/name_u], [name_u]Drew[/name_u], [name_u]Blaine[/name_u], etc. I prefer it on a male but it’s an unexpected choice that works on a girl too.
i used to think of it as only masc, but after seeing a cute little princess named it it has grown on me as a nicely unisex name. dogs deserve all the good names as well ok, any 3 options are cute
