My son is [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] (after [name_m]Mozart[/name_m], my father and Bizet), my daughter [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], we’re going to change her name to the musical [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] and her middle will continue to be [name_f]Callas[/name_f] after [name_f]Maria[/name_f] [name_f]Callas[/name_f], the most amazing soprano ever, in my humble opinion. Since we decided on [name_f]Angelina[/name_f], it discards some of the names I have on my list: [name_f]Carmina[/name_f], [name_f]Florina[/name_f], [name_f]Pamina[/name_f]…
I love names that are feminine, dramatic in a way and feel operatic. I would love some new suggestions. Some names I’ve been throwing around are [name_f]Mireille[/name_f], [name_f]Mirella[/name_f] and [name_f]Indira[/name_f], but so far my husband isn’t a huge fan of any. He continues to have eyes only for his favorite set of names: [name_f]Eurydice[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Celine[/name_f], [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] etc. All of which I find perhaps too similar in style and sound to [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], which we have decided to let go of. I don’t want to make the same mistake again of choosing the wrong name for my baby. That being said, we really need some help!
The musical names can be opera characters, famous musicians, musical terms such as [name_f]Aria[/name_f], Solo (would’ve loved to bestow this on a boy!) or [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], names of songs (preferably classic, folk or blues)…
One last thing - your honest opinion on the name Allegra. I’m aware of the allergy medicine, but don’t live in the US, so that association isn’t a problem. What do you think of it as a name?
I love [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]. I think it has a very musical sound to it and the meaning, in music, is very pretty. I also love the previous poster’s suggestions of [name_f]Musette[/name_f] and [name_u]Carmen[/name_u]. [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] is my favorite, though.
(Names from [name_f]Opera[/name_f] Titles, not likely found on Namberry, and few might not be female names! I just scrolled down through Wikipedia’s page and picked them out haha…)
I love the idea of having a subtle theme in your children’s names that honours something you love. [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] [name_f]Callas[/name_f] is a beautiful and refreshingly unusual name!
I quite like [name_f]Aria[/name_f] and [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]. I’m not in the US either and haven’t heard of the medication except on Nameberry.
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is a lovely name, also musical with the association of singer [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_m]Bartoli[/name_m], but here are some replacement suggestions:
[name_u]Lyric[/name_u]
Song (a bit out there, but if [name_f]Poem[/name_f] can be a name, why not Song?)
Musa
Character names:
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_u]Carmen[/name_u]
[name_f]Boheme[/name_f]
[name_f]Christine[/name_f] (Phantom of the [name_f]Opera[/name_f])
[name_f]Violetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
Bonfireazalea, [name_f]Maria[/name_f] and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] are beautiful, thanks!
Hannahcarmeen, thank you for taking the time to go through those huge lists of names on wikipedia! There are so many names to consider it’s mind-boggling!
My favorite musical names are [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Cadence[/name_f], [name_f]Boheme[/name_f] and [name_f]Reverie[/name_f]. I actually know twins named [name_f]Boheme[/name_f] and [name_f]Reverie[/name_f].
[name_f]Allegra[/name_f] is not my personal favorite, but I quite like the sound of it!
