My combos - mix & match

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! I’ve got a whole bunch of combos for potential future children. I’m after advice on:

  • which combos don’t match the rest
  • which middle names you would pair with different first names on my list, etc.
  • which are your favourites

I am not after advice on:

  • which names you don’t like (I like them all!!)
  • suggestions of new names - I need to cut back!

It seems I like lots of Hebrew, Greek & Latin names (especially biblical), and family inspired names. I like longer first names with shorter middle names, for the most part. And nicknames are essential for me!

  1. Which combos don’t match the rest:

From your girls, I’d say [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] sticks out the most. The others feel a little more classic/vintage, whereas [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] feels a little dated to me. I like the combo, but I think [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] with sisters [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], for example, feels a little off.

[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] and [name_f]Annette[/name_f] work, but [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] feels quite a bit more “out there” than your other names, and [name_f]Annette[/name_f] (to me) feels a touch dated too - I can imagine it on a middle-aged woman but not so much on a baby. However, stylistically it fits and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is perfect with your other names.

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]/[name_m]Edward[/name_m] stick out from your boys as being more mainstream and/or not obviously Biblical like your other choices. [name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m], [name_m]Zaccheus[/name_m] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m] feels pretty mismatched to me.

  1. My favourites:

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]

[name_m]Malachi[/name_m]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m]
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m]
[name_m]Zaccheus[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m]
[name_m]Zeke[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Moses[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]

(I think your combos work so I won’t complicate things by suggesting more)

Thankyou so much, @katinka! I think you’re right about [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] & [name_f]Annette[/name_f] being time-stamped - [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] feels very 80’s/90’s, and [name_f]Annette[/name_f] feels very 60’s to me. I’m not too worried about that though as it means they’re not popular now, and the nicknames [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] & [name_f]Annie[/name_f] aren’t as much attached to those decades. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], however, seems to be very time-stamped 2010’s in comparison to the others, so I wondered if that might be the one to stick out, being way more popular than the others. And, will [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] feel dated in 20-30 years?

I wondered about [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]/[name_m]Edward[/name_m] too. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is biblical, but the [name_m]Ed[/name_m]- names are not. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would seem less unusual with brothers [name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m], [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], & [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], for instance? The first two are obviously biblical, but does [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] balance it out a little more?

Thanks again for the input!

Bumping - I’d love some more opinions!
