[name]Riva[/name] - pretty, will get spelled as [name]Reva[/name] a lot I think
[name]Ianthe[/name] - pretty, though I like [name]Xanthe[/name] more
[name]Mia[/name] - sweet and simple, pretty. More popular than much of your taste.
[name]Elea[/name] - [name]Will[/name] get spelled as [name]Aaliyah[/name] a lot.
[name]Ella[/name] - I like [name]Ella[/name] but this is very very popular more than much of your taste. [name]Mia[/name] or [name]Maya[/name] are still popular but closer.
Mirre - It’s OK but hard to spell/prn. I’d prefer [name]Mira[/name]/[name]Miriam[/name]/[name]Mirabelle[/name] (nn Mirre?)
[name]Maya[/name] - a nice name. I like it more than [name]Mia[/name], but they’re quite similar.
[name]Luz[/name] - I think this is gorgeous but it does sound like “loose” to an English speaking ear. [name]Lucy[/name] or [name]Lucia[/name] (nn [name]Luz[/name] I suppose) could be safer.
[name]Mai[/name] - prn [name]May[/name] or My? Nice although kind of hard to know what to do with. I’d go with [name]Mia[/name] or [name]Maya[/name] over this personally.
Philomé - quite lovely, although I prefer [name]Philomene[/name] or [name]Philomena[/name].
[name]Willa[/name] - Great name
Eydis - not sure what to make of this.
[name]Elva[/name] - too elvish/old ladyish
[name]Indigo[/name] - quite fond of [name]Indigo[/name]
Ylva - Also don’t know what to do this. I like [name]Yvaine[/name] pretty well.
[name]Sappho[/name] - pretty idea, but seems prone to a lot of teasing. [name]Saffron[/name] is safer.
I like [name]Elva[/name], [name]Indigo[/name] and [name]Willa[/name]. [name]Maya[/name] and [name]Ella[/name] are ok.
I agree with jesba that [name]Saffron[/name] would be better than [name]Sappho[/name]. Maybe even [name]Sapphira[/name].
[name]Riva[/name] - It’s ok. I know it’s a name in its own right, but it feels like a mix between [name]Rena[/name] and [name]Rivka[/name] to me, both of which I like better
[name]Ianthe[/name] - absolutely beautiful
[name]Mia[/name] - It’s cute. I could picture this on a little girl or a sophisticated adult. It feels a bit overused though
[name]Elea[/name] - hm, not sure how you’re pronouncing this. eh-[name]LEE[/name]-uh? uh-[name]LEE[/name]-uh? I think I like the first one better
[name]Ella[/name] - Same as [name]Mia[/name]
Mirre - I have a cousin (in The Netherlands, actually!) who spells her name this way. I like it a lot.
[name]Maya[/name] - this name has a nice subtle etherial quality, which is nice.
[name]Luz[/name] - It’s ok. Has a hipster vibe, imo. Would you consider spelling it the Dutch way, Loes?
[name]Mai[/name] - not feeling it
Philomé - I prefer Philomène (which is beautiful!)
[name]Willa[/name] - I’m a sucker for this name - so adorable!
Eydis - nms
[name]Elva[/name] - I think this would work. It has the [name]El[/name]- trend and is similar to the popular [name]Eva[/name]/[name]Ava[/name].
[name]Indigo[/name] - I’ve never been able to see this as a name. I don’t really like any of the Ind- names.
Ylva - Prefer the more straightforward [name]Elva[/name] I think
[name]Sappho[/name] - I my, I would [name]LOVE[/name] someone to use this name. That baby would have to be pretty hip though - that is one very cool name. I actually rather like it’s historical association too, although it may be difficult for a little girl. I’d pair it with something relatively feminine
Thank you all for the terrific feedback! @raptreverie: I like the meaning of [name]Luz[/name] (light) so much! Loes is a dutch variant of [name]Louise[/name], and does not have the same meaning, therefore i prefer [name]Luz[/name]
[name]How[/name] nice that you know someone named Mirre, it isn’t a very popular name And Dutch as well!
[name]Riva[/name] - [name]Lovely[/name], makes me think of the French [name]Riviera[/name] and stylish ladies in swimming suits.
[name]Ianthe[/name] - I love nymphs, “violet flower” is a sweet meaning too. I prefer this to [name]Xanthe[/name] unless a blonde child is a certainty.
[name]Mia[/name] - [name]Mia[/name] is adorable. So sweet, pretty and cute as a button.
[name]Elea[/name] - Makes me think of the philosopher [name]Zeno[/name] of [name]Elea[/name]. Which is a good thing.
[name]Ella[/name] - [name]Ella[/name] is pretty. I like [name]Emma[/name] more, but [name]Ella[/name] is gorgeous.
Mirre - So beautiful! [name]Love[/name]!
[name]Maya[/name] - I much prefer [name]Maia[/name], but [name]Maya[/name] is sweet too. [name]Maia[/name] is a star, and a nymph.
[name]Luz[/name] - Sweet and pretty. I imagine blonde, sweet and funny little girl.
[name]Mai[/name] - Oh, love. I know one! She’s lovely and fun and so smart. We danced together for almost 15 years.
Philomé - Pretty! I like Philomène better, but lovely all the same.
[name]Willa[/name] - I don’t get the [name]Willa[/name] thing. It looks cute, but I’m not a fan.
Eydis - Interesting. I like it.
[name]Elva[/name] - Beautiful, just beautiful. Makes me think of rivers and waterfalls.
[name]Indigo[/name] - Serious, strong name. Very beautiful. I love the -o ending.
Ylva - Gorgeous. I’ve always liked this name.
[name]Sappho[/name] - Another love. I’d love to see this on a little girl. A beautiful name, with a beautiful history. [name]Sappho[/name] was amazing.
[name]Riva[/name] - I knew a [name]Riva[/name] who was sassy and talented, so I definitely like it.
[name]Ianthe[/name] - Pretty, but not all that wearable
[name]Mia[/name] - Streamlined and feminine but extremely popular
[name]Elea[/name] - Just pretty.
[name]Ella[/name] - Same as [name]Mia[/name].
Mirre - I like it. How is it pronounced?
[name]Maya[/name] - LOVE. Classic, gorgeous and multicultural.
[name]Luz[/name] - Eh. Weird unless you’re Hispanic.
[name]Mai[/name] - Gorgeous. Would you pronounce it “My” or “[name]May[/name]?”
Philomé - Names like [name]Philomel[/name] will always remind me of rape. Thanks, Shakespeare.
[name]Willa[/name] - Eh. Not a fan. It’s very bland.
Eydis - Hmm. Not sure what I think about this one. Could work.
[name]Elva[/name] - Sounds vaguely old-lady-ish and reminds me of the creepy little girl from the Eragon books. Not necessarily bad things.
[name]Indigo[/name] - Nice, but I like it better on a boy.
Ylva - Same as [name]Elva[/name]
[name]Sappho[/name] - Pretty, but risky. I could see it working better in 2023.
You have beautiful taste. I love coming across lists like this one!
[name]Riva[/name] is cool. I like [name]Reva[/name] better.
[name]Ianthe[/name] - too difficult to say and pronounce - [name]Xanthe[/name] would be a bit easier
[name]Mia[/name] - too cute and popular
[name]Elea[/name] - I like it a lot
[name]Ella[/name] - cute, way too popular - I am loving [name]Etta[/name] instead
Mirre - not sure how to say this one. I dislike it if it is like [name]Mira[/name]. [name]Mira[/name] sounds like someone saying mirror with an accent. I like [name]Mireya[/name] or the French [name]Mirielle[/name]/[name]Mireille[/name]
[name]Maya[/name] - same as [name]Mia[/name]
[name]Luz[/name] - too ethnic
[name]Mai[/name] - cute middle name - I prefer [name]Mae[/name] or [name]May[/name] though
Philome - prefer [name]Philomena[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] is cute, but I like [name]Willow[/name] better. [name]Wilhelmina[/name] with the nn [name]Willa[/name] would be cooler. I like [name]Mina[/name] too.
Eydis - no, it’s strange
[name]Elva[/name] - no, it’s too old lady. My Cabbage Patch kid was named [name]Elva[/name] [name]Mavis[/name], so I called her [name]Ellie[/name] [name]Mae[/name]. It’s also a lot like [name]Elvis[/name] and elves.
[name]Indigo[/name] - I think [name]Indigo[/name] is cute. [name]Indi[/name] is a cool nickname.
Ylva - looks a bit like Vulva - gross
[name]Sappho[/name] - not feminine sounding. [name]Sapphire[/name] would be okay. I quite like [name]Sapphira[/name].
In your signature I love [name]Evadne[/name], [name]Liv[/name] and [name]Juniper[/name]. I see that you like [name]Juno[/name] too. Maybe you would like [name]Junia[/name]? I love it!
[name]Ianthe[/name], [name]Elea[/name], [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Indigo[/name] - love love love! What about [name]Lux[/name] instead of [name]Luz[/name] (same meaning. Not sure how to pronounce [name]Luz[/name]). [name]Sappho[/name] - could lead to unnecessry prejudice for your child. [name]Love[/name] [name]Sapphire[/name] or the Arabic [name]Saffa[/name]
Thanks so much again for the feedback and compliments
I prn Mirre as Mir- (with a short i, like in quick) -ruh, so it does sounds a bit like mirror in english: ha! I never realized that!
[name]Maya[/name] vs [name]Maia[/name], i like [name]Maya[/name] on paper, but dislike the y in most names: therefore not sure which one I really prefer.
[name]Mai[/name]: I prn it as My, it is a nod to my grandfather who was born in may, and who i was very fond of.
I like [name]Lux[/name] too, [name]Eilidh[/name], but it would be considered very strange where I live, unfortunately. Still, you’ll never know how brave i will be, when i really get to name a daughter
