My Current Top 5 + Suggestions

Hey, Berries!

What are your opinions on my current top five names? Be honest, please, you can’t offend me:) What kind of imagery do you get with each name? Which ones do you think go well in a sibset together? Any other thoughts?

Also, what first names would you suggest to me to go *as sibling names with [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], & [name_f]Edith[/name_f]/[name_f]Edie[/name_f], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Declan[/name_m], [name_u]Finley[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], & [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]? I prefer classics and/or names with history for the most part.

[name_f]TIA[/name_f]
~[name_f]Emma[/name_f]

[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] this one very much. It’s a 10/10. It gives me “Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u]” feelings.

[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]: Althought I love [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], I think it may sounds as Lilisobel if you say quickly. I’m sorry, but [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] is a no for me.

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]: [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] was one of my favorites, so I find [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] really charming. I think [name_u]Wren[/name_u] works nicely here. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] would be also lovely, or [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]: I think this is my least favorite combo. I like [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. But when I say [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] I feel I’m saying three differents first name. Personally, I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] sounds better.

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]: Yay, it’s always nice to see [name_f]Edith[/name_f]. (such and underrated name!). Of course I love [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and I find [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] really pretty, but I prefer [name_f]Sophia[/name_f].

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Landon[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]: [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is such a handsome and manly name, but soft at the same time. I’m not a big fan of [name_m]Landon[/name_m], but it sounds good in this combo. I find [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] really interesting.

[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]: my least favorite boy combo. I’m not fan of [name_m]Declan[/name_m], but I like how [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] sounds.

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]: love this one!! Sounds really, really cool. 10/10.

[name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Piers[/name_m]: I love [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and this spelling. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is really meaningful to me, so of course I love it. I used to dislike [name_m]Piers[/name_m] (I prefer [name_m]Peter[/name_m]) but since I’m in nameberry, I’ve being finding its beauty, and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Piers[/name_m] sounds super good.

[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Weston[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]: [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] would be 10/10, but I’m not fond of [name_m]Weston[/name_m]. I prefer [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] or [name_m]Walter[/name_m] as W names. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is very handsome.

In general, I like your names. At a first look, they give me a vintage feeling, but when I re-read them, there is always something that make the name “modern” (if you know what I mean). For example [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] sounds pretty formal, but [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Weston[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is more “casual” (but I don’t mean in a bad way)

Thank you so much for your feedback, @undertherainbow!

First, hearing [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] described as giving you “Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u] feelings” makes my so glad! That’s one of the highest compliments you could give me ;D (Yeah, I’m a Downton fanatic…)

And I’m glad to hear so much positive on my boy combos. I always struggle more on those. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is a 10/10 because the whole thing is very significant and meaningful to me as all three names honor.

Thank you for the fn suggestions as well, though I meant what first names as sibling names. Sorry, I should have clarified. However, I do like a lot of those combos. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is actually on my list:)

That is jut the kind of feel I’m going for with my names, so thank you for saying so. I do take that as a compliment.

Anyone else wanna weigh in?

Wow, so what about this names?

Girls: [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Thora[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] / [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Ethel[/name_f], [name_f]Russet[/name_f], [name_f]Bethel[/name_f], [name_f]Geneva[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] or [name_f]Hettie[/name_f] or maybe even [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] or [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_f]Olive[/name_f]

Boys: [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Linus[/name_m], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_m]Homer[/name_m], [name_m]Lowell[/name_m], [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], [name_m]Miles[/name_m] or [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_u]Dexter[/name_u], [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_m]Cedric[/name_m], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m].

Ps: i’m also a downton fan, my love for the names [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_m]Branson[/name_m] come from that serie hahaha

jane victoria pearl - I love this, it’s very regal and classy; the flow is great (not even the two one-syllable names bother me here) and the look is wonderful.

lily isobel antonia - [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is very sweet, personally I know so many and hear the name so much, it has gotten a bit boring to me (I don’t think I hear any other name more than [name_f]Lily[/name_f], maybe [name_m]Paul[/name_m] for the boys).
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f] is wonderful, the spelling makes it more interesting and [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] is very grand (and least in English, it’s quite common here).
I do think I’d like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] a bit more, I just prefer the rythm of that order but either way it’s a strong combo.

emilia charlotte wren - this feels the most modern of your girl’s combos due to [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. With the others, I usually get the imagery of a vintage little girl, here I see a modern one.
I do really like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (though I personally prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]), [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is sweet but after it has been in every signature in 2014 on here, it feels a little “used” to me.

nora mabel josephine - love love love the names together.
As with the [name_f]Lily[/name_f] combo, I’d prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], both in sound and look, but also as the [name_f]Lily[/name_f] combo, it’s wonderful either way.

edith sofia rose “edie” - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and quite like [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] with this spelling. I do adore [name_f]Rose[/name_f], I’m just not a huge fan of it in the middle name spot. Of course it works and sounds lovely but, especially with [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], it sounds a bit generic and a little too expected.

henry landan jasper - I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is great. [name_m]Landan[/name_m] looks weird to me, I want to draw out the As with this spelling.

declan archer sebastian - neither of these names is for me, though they’re all perfectly acceptable names.
I personally prefer [name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Archer[/name_m], I just generally prefer the longer name (sound and look wise) in the middle.

theodore bennet grey - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Bennet[/name_m], [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is like [name_u]Wren[/name_u] to me; overhyped on NB and therefore a little too expected.

finley alexander piers - very handsome, love the look of it!

oliver weston james - I don’t care as much for [name_m]Weston[/name_m] but [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_u]James[/name_u] are handsome. I don’t actually mind [name_u]James[/name_u] as much in the middle, even though many view it similar to [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but I feel like the boys’ have several “go-to” middle names that are very popular ([name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u]) while with girls it’s only [name_f]Rose[/name_f]; at least for the one-syllable ones.

As for suggestions; maybe I can interst you in these two lists:
GIRLS | BOYS

As you probably already know, I adore your combos. I absolutely adore vintage charm. As a whole they feel friendly and approachable. I picture happy, caring children/adults.

Thanks for the suggestions:) I have never considered them before but like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] a lot! And from the boys [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] was never a favorite but it is really growing on me! [name_m]Felix[/name_m], too. And I love [name_m]Alaric[/name_m]!

YES! Besides [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] and [name_m]Branson[/name_m] are on my list, too! It’s also because of Downton that I reconsidered names I was always neutral about like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

Thank you so much! That’s very kind of you to say. Your comment made me smile:)

Thanks for the feedback, @opheliaflora!

I’m starting to think about [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]…You’re the second person to suggest that order. I really like it either way. And, yes, perhaps [name_u]Wren[/name_u] does seem a bit ‘used’…yet I love it. It was on my first list, after a while it lost it’s flare (sometime around [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars VII), but a couple months ago I rediscovered my love for it, so… Interesting that you find [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] more modern. I don’t think it’s as vintage as my other combos, but, idk, I guess I don’t think it fits in with all the Zoes, Mackenzies, and Rubys either. Finally, I do love [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a fn, I just haven’t thought of a combo for her that I love. Since I do like her in the middle spot, I don’t care if it seems generic – because it probably does!

[name_m]Landan[/name_m] is spelled that way for a reason. It’s an honor name for me, so that’s why. I guess I have gotten so used to spelling it so that it is actually [name_m]Landon[/name_m] that looks odd to me. [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is an honor name for me, unlike [name_u]Wren[/name_u], but I agree…perhaps it is quite ‘used’. I can’t give up the honors though, and I do love it.

Thanks for the suggested lists, too!

You shouldn’t! There will always be (combinations of) names that feel generic to people not knowing their significance. I think most of us have them on their lists, wether it be the classic [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_u]James[/name_u] or the modern favourites [name_u]Grey[/name_u] or [name_u]River[/name_u].

And while [name_u]Grey[/name_u] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u] are such modern “Instagram hipster kids” names to me, I can absolutely understand how others perceive them differently and find them darling, which they actually are.
I suppose overexposure to most things makes them feel less special at one point and names are no exception.

Very true. I feel that way about [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. I think I would love it, but I know and have met sooo many that it’s lost its shine for me. Yet still so many on NB and elsewhere find it fresh and glamourous. So I completely agree and respect different perceptions.

Firstly I love all of your combos, even when I am not 100% a fan of individual names:
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]- being in my 30s from the UK [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] are both ‘overdone’ for me (I currently know 3 [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Janes[/name_f]!) however this combo is really sweet. I picture a studious, kind child/adult, an introvert when you first meet her but when you get to know her she is the life and soul!

Lily Isobel Antonia ~I second others and say that I prefer the flow of [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], However the combination is nice, although I prefer some of your other combinations. In terms of description [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] makes me think of a blond curly haired little princess who grows up into a well liked sociable queen bee!

[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] Charlotte Wren- I Looove this combo, I also love all 3 of these names, I would say 10/10 for me. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] gives me the imagery of a dark haired teenager (but who will grow into adulthood with the wonderful name) sitting on a swing whilst listening to music on her iPod .

Nora Mabel Josephine ~I like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] I’m not so keen on [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] but the combo is ok however I do prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]

Edith Sofia Rose “Edie” [name_f]Edith[/name_f] nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is one of my favourite names (I’m also a Downton fan) and this combo is just gorgeous. Again the imagery is of a dark haired girl however this time she has a slight tomboyish streak and is very mischievous but ultimately has a good heart! 10/10

Henry Landan Jasper:[name_u]Love[/name_u] this combo, it’s so cool! I picture a trendy (in a good way!) little dude with styled blond hair and a cheeky smile 10/10!

Declan Archer Sebastian [name_m]Declan[/name_m] isn’t usually my style but I like it in this combo, [name_m]Declan[/name_m] is a cheeky chappy who loves sports and being outdoors, especially climbing trees!

~ Theodore Bennet Grey- [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Love[/name_u] this combo, it’s elegant and sophisticated yet familiar and funky at the same time. This dark haired studious fellow is also a sociable dude who is loved by everyone who meets him. 10/10

Finley Alexander Piers - cute combo, doesn’t overly excite me but it is nice.

~ Oliver Weston James I like this, it’s familiar and cosy like a favourite jumper (again in a good way).

Thanks, @lulu82!

I love [name_f]Niamh[/name_f]! I just don’t know if I could use a name as Irish as that in my Italian family. Yes, [name_m]Declan[/name_m] is Irish, but it’s pretty familiar here, whereas [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] is not. Still love it, though:) [name_u]Clare[/name_u] is an honor name for me, so [name_f]Clara[/name_f] could be, too. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] has really been growing on me lately, and I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f].

[name_m]Evander[/name_m] is fantastic – love it! [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] is actually on my list bc I adore nn [name_m]Gabe[/name_m].

Thanks again for the suggestions and all the positive comments:)
