I have a set list of boys names and girls names I like, but I have no idea which names (if any of them do) fit together. I’m less picky with boys names, so, feel free to suggest boy name combos that fit nicely in a sibling set with your favourite of my girls names
I would personally avoid too many names that start with the same first letter or sounds. So I wouldn’t cross any off now, but when it comes time to have a family I would pick one or two names that start with one letter.
Here’s how I would make sib-sets:
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]? ([name_f]Josephine[/name_f] I gave to [name_f]Iris[/name_f] so I took a new one from your list) I really like them all.
All modern and classic, sweet and short.
[name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_m]Long[/name_m] classics possibly with nicknames
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
Classic names with modern classic on-trend middles.
[name_f]Minerva[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
Literary (maybe young adult/children’s lit: HP, [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of GG, and [name_f]Narnia[/name_f]) firsts with modern classic established middles.
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f], [name_f]Maude[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]
Old cool clunkers with sleeker middles)
Ok so you can see how I would do it. Think of a theme and then try to find names to fit. The average family has less than 3 kids and more than 2 kids in [name_u]America[/name_u] which is why I picked three per theme.
I like almost of all your names, and your combos. I would use a more modern spunkier middle with [name_f]Marilla[/name_f] like [name_f]Joy[/name_f] or [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], but that’s me.
Good luck!
[name_f]Marilla[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] / [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] OR [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] / [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (do you like this? could be swapped out for Beatrice if you don’t) OR [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] / [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] - [name_f]Marilla[/name_f], [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] OR [name_f]Marilla[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
I did sets of 6, based on the popularity and “feel” of the names.
Literary, sweet, feels unusual—names that’d get commented on:
[name_f]Marilla[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] — my first thought was [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] but it shares “mund” with [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]
Familiar, charming, elegant—solid but smile-worthy choices:
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] — switched from [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] because of [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Caradoc[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
Third set, more familiar ones that make me grin:
[name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] — switched from [name_m]William[/name_m] because of [name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] — prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] to [name_f]Ariana[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
What fun! I’m going to put the names in sibsets of five based on their cohesiveness. You probably won’t be having more than five children in the future, will you?
5 boys: [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Walter[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
5 girls: [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
4 Boys and 1 Girl: [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_m]Joel[/name_m], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]
4 Girls and 1 Boy: [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Maude[/name_f] and [name_u]Stanley[/name_u]
3 Boys and 2 Girls: [name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Brogan[/name_m], [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
3 Girls and 2 Boys: [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
