My girl’s name is currently [name]Eloise[/name] Arlyce nn [name]Lulu[/name]. It took DH & me forever to agree on this. I love this name and have my heart set on this.
A good friend just gave birth & named their baby [name]Ella[/name] [name]Anne[/name]. Not best friends but in the same circle, attended each other’s weddings, our husbands are friends. We don’t live in the same city but we both work in the same business, etc etc.
Is it now a jerk move for me to have an [name]Eloise[/name] a few months after she has an [name]Ella[/name]? Are they different enough that it’s ok?
I think they are different enough, especially if you plan on calling your daughter [name]Lulu[/name]. If you are not in the same city, it will be easy enough for your circle of friends to keep from confusing [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name]. Not to mention, [name]El[/name]- names are quite in these days, so little [name]Ella[/name] will meet many other girls with similar names. My friends have kids named [name]Eva[/name], [name]Emma[/name], [name]Eliane[/name] (nn [name]Elly[/name]), [name]Eloise[/name], and [name]Evan[/name], and so far as I know, no one has been offended at the similarity.
I think it’s fine if you’re gonna with the nickname [name]Lulu[/name]. You could always though talk to her and see how she feels. You wouldn’t necessarily want to lose a friend if it really bothers her. I’m sure she would be fine with it though.
Nowhere close enough to worry about it. If it was [name]Elle[/name] and [name]Ella[/name] I’d maybe think twice about it, but [name]IMO[/name] they are quite different.
Thanks for the comment re: Arlyce! It’s my sister’s middle. My mom combined her parents’ names [name]Arlene[/name] and [name]Wallace[/name] to get Arlyce & honour them when my sister was born, so for me it’s a way to honour my sister & my grandparents. Besides I just love the name.
