I need golden, honeydripping, starry eyed middles for Hespera. I want the names to feel like a walled, lush garden in the evening, starry skies, golden apple trees… Singing nymphs walking amidst the green green and the purple and deep pink flowers.
[name]Tennyson[/name] has the most beautiful poem named The Hesperides, this is what I’m looking for:
“Liquid gold, honeysweet thro and thro”, “The bliss of secret smiles”, “Purple fringed with even and dawn”, “The end of day and beginning of night”.
[name]Herbert[/name] [name]James[/name] [name]Draper[/name]'s painting The Gates of [name]Dawn[/name] and [name]Tori[/name] [name]Amos[/name]'s song Datura would maybe paint a better picture of what I want than my humble words.
[name]Cressida[/name]! It means gold and was the first thing that came to mind before I even looked up the meaning. You may also like [name]Capitola[/name] or Capitolia. I found the later on an old gravestone.
EDIT: Just re-read…I forgot that this is a middle for Hespera. I was just thinking of first names. Hespera Cressida won’t work. Scratch these suggestions.
[name]Just[/name] popping in to say, I think your Hespera [name]Eos[/name] Rosebay is exquisite! But I’m sure you’ll get some other lovely suggestions…
Good luck and cheerio!
[name]How[/name] stunning an image, and I am so excited to see who is baking in there and hear his or her name!
I am getting ready to go somewhere but will have to.think on this and get back later…
When you mentioned apples, the name that came to mind is [name]Pomona[/name]. According to my baby name book, it’s Latin for “apple”, and she was a goddess of fruit trees.
You might like my new favorite, Chrysanthe (“golden flower”); Melanthe (“dark flower”), [name]Calanthe[/name] (“beautiful flower”). All with mythological bona fides.
[name]Melia[/name] (honey)
[name]Eve[/name] (double sense of Garden-dweller and evening, plus a ‘normal’ name)
[name]Jinan[/name] (Arabic for paradise, emphasis on second syllable-- zhi-NAHN) Tasnim (one of the most poetic name meanings in existence: “a spring [of water] in Paradise”)
Anthousa: Greek for ‘blossoming, flowering’
[name]Elanor[/name]: a flower-name in Sindarin
[name]Florinda[/name]: elaboration on ‘flowers,’ likely ‘beautiful flowers’
[name]Lore[/name]: double meaning: ‘knowledge,’ and ‘flower’ in Basque
[name]Zahra[/name]: white rose
Nasrine: wild rose
[name]Samar[/name]: “evening conversation” in Arabic
[name]Oriel[/name], [name]Orinda[/name], [name]Aurielle[/name] = gold, golden
I absolutely love the idea of Hespera ___ [name]Aurore[/name]!! Hespera Rosebay [name]Aurore[/name]? Hespera [name]Arcadia[/name] [name]Aurore[/name]?
It may be nice to use the name of a flower that blooms in [name]March[/name] - a symbol of the dawn (or pre-dawn) of spring. Celandine (of the buttercup family), perhaps? That particular flower is quite adored in literature and might be a good fit for you.
[name]Zorina[/name] is another golden beauty that I wanted to suggest.
I really enjoy reading your threads because they are so imaginative, and I’ve wanted to reply or give some advice but I can’t help but feel slightly anxious about all your names. It just seems like you have so many on your list and new ones keep being added, and your choices are changing very rapidly. I can’t keep up. I don’t mean to sound rude or patronizing or anything, I hope I didn’t come off that way. For me, having so many choices would drive me up a wall with anxiety/pressure. And if I remember correctly you’re due quite soon, right?
