Here are some of my current favorite names and my descriptions of what I feel each name means to me. I 'd love to hear your descriptions of some of your favorite names.
[name]Zeke[/name] - The sound is sharp like a blade. It’s fast, an action word like KRAK or SHAZZAAM from a comic book.
It makes me think of robots and retro rocket ships. [name]Zeke[/name] is bright reds and yellows or shiny cold steel. It’s tall skyscrapers reaching up to the stars.
[name]Ollie[/name] - It reminds of jolly, full of laughter and fun. It makes me
think of bouncy balls and skateboards. [name]Ollie[/name], is spinning in circles really
fast until your your dizzy. It’s seeing who can blow the biggest bubble. [name]Ollie[/name] is wind in your hair and sand between your toes.
[name]Michael[/name] - Is familiar and safe and always dependable. [name]Michael[/name] is an open ear and good advice. It is the brother you’ve never had.
It is a long [name]Summer[/name] adventure, with a few skinned knees. [name]Michael[/name] is a white t-shirt and blue jeans. It is watching cartoons on [name]Saturday[/name]
morning hanging upside from the couch. It is extra innings in a baseball game. [name]Michael[/name] is yo-yo tricks and puppy dog kisses.
[name]Lydia[/name] - Is straight A’s (well almost). [name]Lydia[/name], is [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name] shoes and white ruffled socks. I think of lavender fields and honey bees.
It is crocheted doilies framed on the wall. I hear please and thank you. [name]Lydia[/name], is tea parties with teddy bears. It is hiding behind
legs and speaking in whispers. It is practicing the violin while others seek refuge.
[name]Iris[/name] - Is pig tails bouncing like springs. [name]Iris[/name], is paint spilled on the carpet. It is the pocket of overalls stuffed with crayons.
I imagine cool green grass on bare feet, looking for four leaf clovers. [name]Iris[/name], is [name]Spring[/name] flowers in bloom. It is rainbow sprinkles
on vanilla ice cream. [name]Iris[/name] is chasing butterflies and making wishes.
[name]Hi[/name]! I just had to comment on the great boy’s name [name]Zeke[/name] - The sound is sharp like a blade. It’s fast, an action word like an OLYMPIC SPEED SKATER. I could just picture him up there against [name]Apolo[/name] [name]Ono[/name]!
What lovely descriptions! That was beautiful writing and it actually made me like the name [name]Michael[/name] that I’ve always disliked :). I would love to read more descriptions such as these.
[name]Ruby[/name] - Is carnival lights and rides on a ferris wheel. [name]Ruby[/name] is tap shoes worn to the store. It is a blue bowl full of cherries. It is hopscotch and jump rope marathons. I can see painted red fingernails and wiggling toes.
[name]Emery[/name] - Is notebooks full of stories. [name]Emery[/name] is rain boots splashing in puddles. It is freckles on the tip of a nose. [name]Emery[/name] is grey kittens curled up in a ball. It is secret forts and passwords.
[name]Lara[/name] - Is foreign languages. It is biscotti. It is plaid skirts and white button up blouses. [name]Lara[/name], is black and white photographs. I imagine long bubble baths, while eating ice cream. It is willow trees and good books. [name]Lara[/name], is a gentle breeze.
