My Girl List - Critique, Admire, and Add On

Okay, so I have favorites on my ‘list’ and then some I like, but don’t love. So, PLEASE, critique, suggest pairings/swap around, admire and give me more suggestions going with my ‘theme’. I will also tell you the honor names I have for girls. To be honest, I don’t like any of them, but tell me what YOU think. I really love unique, rustic names.

Others I’m liking from your list:

[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Selena[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]

[name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]- [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is cute, and really in right now, so I like that as well. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is a different feel than [name_f]Indie[/name_f], and I really like it with it since I like trendy and traditional together, a lot.

[name_u]Ember[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]- If my future partner liked [name_f]Amber[/name_f], I would suggest [name_u]Ember[/name_u] because honestly, I love [name_u]Ember[/name_u] more. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is one of my favorites and I like it with this name a lot.

[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]- [name_f]Cora[/name_f] isn’t my taste, but I like it paired with [name_u]Lynn[/name_u].

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]- I like it.

[name_u]Oakley[/name_u] [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]- [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] is nms, but I like it paired with [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u].

[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]- I like these two together, they flow good together.

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u]- to close in names imo.

[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]- I like these together.

For the single names, I will list the ones I like from least to greatest.
[name_u]Brinley[/name_u]
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_u]Haven[/name_u]
[name_u]Laken[/name_u]
[name_f]Nola[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]/elliett
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]

for the honor names I will say just something simple, as I don’t like to judge them.

the only ones I don’t like are: [name_f]Althea[/name_f], [name_f]Elva[/name_f], [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f], [name_f]Selena[/name_f], [name_u]Joyce[/name_u], [name_f]Joann[/name_f], [name_u]Saylor[/name_u].

{Favorites}
[name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]: This is cute I just can’t picture it on an adult and I have also heard this combination a lot. 7/10
[name_u]Ember[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]: I don’t love the flow as the R sounds run together but I love each name individually. 8/10
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]: I think these names are too short to be paired together, it sounds mushed together when I say it out loud. 4/10
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]: I like this! 9/10

{Combos and/or Names I’m Thinking About}
[name_u]Oakley[/name_u] [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] [honor name]: I do not like [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] at all and I don’t like the double E ending sound when paired with [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u].
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]: I really like each individual name but I don’t care for short/short combos. I prefer long/short or short/long. Perhaps [name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] nn [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]?
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]: This name is just ok to me.
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]: I prefer just [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [honor name]: I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] this name. I have [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] on my list.
[name_u]Brinley[/name_u]: This name is too tacky/trendy for me.
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] (like adeline, but with -v) nn Avvy: This is cute.
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]: This is ok, I prefer the similar in style name [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] though.
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]: Cute
[name_u]Haven[/name_u]: [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like.
[name_u]Laken[/name_u]: [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like.
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u]: [name_m]Just[/name_m] ok.
Aaryn: I really don’t like this spelling but I love the name, I prefer [name_f]Erin[/name_f] for a girl and [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] for a boy.
[name_f]Nola[/name_f]: Not a fan. Reminds me of Canola oil
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [more MN]: Cute
Elliette/[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]: Not a fan
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name and the letter Q!
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]: [name_f]Adore[/name_f] this
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]/[name_u]June[/name_u]: I prefer [name_u]June[/name_u], very cute.

Of your honor names I like:
[name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_u]Jesse[/name_u]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_u]Joyce[/name_u]
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

Some suggestions:

[name_u]Ember[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]
[name_f]Erin[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]

[name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] – cute, personally I would prefer more of a full name nn [name_f]Indie[/name_f]. That’s a personal preference though, the combo is cute ([name_f]Indira[/name_f], [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], any –inda name)
[name_u]Ember[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] – for me it’s too taken by [name_f]Amber[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] the celebrity/former stripper. My name is [name_f]Amber[/name_f] and I get this association all the time. I like [name_u]Ember[/name_u] better than [name_f]Amber[/name_f], but I think its just too close.
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] – cute, but sounds like one name to me ([name_f]Coralynn[/name_f]/[name_f]Coraline[/name_f])
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] – my favorite of your top combos!

[name_u]Oakley[/name_u] [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] – not a fan of either name personally, and with a unisex name, I’d prefer to pair it will a more feminine name to suggest the child’s gender
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] – don’t like the way they rhyme, [name_f]Esme[/name_f] is lovely, [name_f]Fay/name_f has a bad association for me but is a fine name
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f] – I actually think this name is really cute
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] – [name_f]Belle[/name_f] names are a little frilly/overly popular for my taste.
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [honor name] – this is lovely. I love the combination of unique/nature with classic and unisex with feminine. They are just different enough in style to be perfect together!
[name_u]Brinley[/name_u] – Not a fan
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] (like adeline, but with -v) nn Avvy – its cute
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] – to me the friends association is too strong (not that it is a bad association), but it’s a good name
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] – not a fan
[name_u]Haven[/name_u] – cute, haven’t fully developed my opinion of it yet, but its growing on me
[name_u]Laken[/name_u] – never heard it, initial reaction is that I don’t really like it
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u] – It’s cute. A surname name for girls that I am ok with.
Aaryn – don’t like the unique spelling
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] – beautiful, I like this better than the more popular [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [more MN] – I prefer [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] for boys
Elliette/[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] - prefer for boys
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] – never been a fan
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] – [name_u]Love[/name_u] classic [name_f]Rose[/name_f] on its own! I would love to use it, but its much too popular where I live
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]/[name_u]June[/name_u] – its cute, wouldn’t use it myself but it’s a strong choice

It sounds like you aren’t really a fan of the honor names you have available. I would say don’t use them! If you really want to honor someone you could try to do so in another way (birth month, birth stone, favorite flower, a special place name, etc). If you really want to use a name, maybe try different forms of the names (and remember you can cross genders using honor names as inspiration). Personally, I think [name_f]Althea[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are great names. Here are some other options:

[name_f]Althea[/name_f] –[name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], [name_f]Anthea[/name_f], [name_f]Thalia[/name_f], [name_f]Alleah[/name_f], similar meaning “healing” - [name_f]Peony[/name_f] (or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] for a boy)
[name_f]Elva[/name_f] – [name_u]Alva[/name_u], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Elvira[/name_f], [name_f]Alvina[/name_f], [name_f]Ivanna[/name_f], similar meaning (“ruler of the elves”) - [name_u]Avery[/name_u], ([name_u]Evan[/name_u])
[name_f]Agnus[/name_f] – [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], [name_f]Nessa[/name_f], [name_f]Ines[/name_f], [name_f]Aneska[/name_f], similar meaning “pure” - [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and variants
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] - [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], [name_f]Hetty[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f] ([name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Harry[/name_m])
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] – [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], similar meaning “pearl” – [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], [name_f]Marit[/name_f]
[name_f]Marie[/name_f] – [name_f]Maria[/name_f], [name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_f]Malia[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Maribel[/name_f], [name_f]Mariella[/name_f], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Mariska[/name_f], [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_u]Jesse[/name_u] – [name_f]Jessa[/name_f], [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f], [name_f]Jezebel[/name_f], [name_f]Jessalyn[/name_f], similar meaning “Gift” – [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f],
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] – [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Edie[/name_f] ([name_m]Ed[/name_m], [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m])
[name_f]Selena[/name_f] – [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Celene[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], similar meaning “moon” – [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] – [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], any –belle/a name
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] – [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_u]Joyce[/name_u] - [name_f]Joy[/name_f], [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f] – [name_f]Joelle[/name_f], [name_f]Joy[/name_f]

[name_u]Lynn[/name_u] – [name_f]Linnie[/name_f], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], any –lyn name

Since you have some solid favourites, I won’t critique them, but here are my thoughts on the ones you’re questioning

[name_u]Oakley[/name_u] [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] - I never used to like [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] for a girl, but I’m starting to warm up to it! I’d probably pair it with something super feminine though, as both [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] and [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] are unisex names, and I generally prefer a unisex first with a feminine middle (but it’s a personal preference, and totally not a big issue LOL). I think [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] would be gorgeous though!!
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] - I’m not keen on how the end sound of [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] rhyme - it’s a bit too much for my liking. I’d probably switch it to [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Selena[/name_f] or [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f].
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f] - [name_f]Harlow[/name_f]'s not my thing, but I can totally see the appeal. It’s a bit harsher than your other names, but something like [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] would help to soften it!
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] - I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] the name [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] - it’s an honour name of sorts for me, but still! I think it’s very sweet, though it does stick out a little bit from your other favourites, I don’t see that as being an issue. [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] would be absolutely adorable!
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [honor name] - I’m not a fan of [name_u]Wren[/name_u] I’m afraid. It just doesn’t appeal to me :frowning: I think [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] overall is nice, but I’m not sure I like it that much, haha.
[name_u]Brinley[/name_u] - I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Brinley[/name_u]!! I have it as [name_f]Brynlee[/name_f] on my list (but I’m half considering [name_u]Brinley[/name_u] too), but I think it’s just adorable! I think something like [name_u]Brinley[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_u]Brinley[/name_u] [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] (or even [name_u]Brinley[/name_u] [name_f]Edith[/name_f]!!) works really well
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] (like adeline, but with -v) nn Avvy - I love [name_f]Aveline[/name_f], but I’m not keen on Avvy, probably because I pronounce it as Ay-va-line, and the double Vs look a bit awkward to me. [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ava[/name_f] would be cute though!
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - I’m pretty indifferent towards [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - some days I love it, and others I don’t. It’s super cute but I’m not sure I love the sound of it, if that makes any sense? [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] would be a nice addition to your list though I think!
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] - I love the name [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]!! It feels like a fresher take on my incredibly 90s name LOL [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] is on my own list, but I think it would suit yours too!
[name_u]Haven[/name_u] - [name_u]Haven[/name_u] is one of those names that I feel I should love, but don’t? I think it’s cute, and I love it on other people’s children, but I can’t see myself with a little [name_u]Haven[/name_u]. I think it’s a nice addition to your list though!
[name_u]Laken[/name_u] - I’m not really keen on this spelling of [name_u]Laken[/name_u], it looks a little awkward imo!
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u] - I used to love the name [name_u]Reagan[/name_u], but since S/O and I love [name_u]McKinley[/name_u] and [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] too, I’m a bit weary of adding it, as it’d bring us to three dead presidents names (four if you could [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] on our boys list!!). I think it’s pretty though!
Aaryn - I used to love Aeryn so I am kind of partial to this, but I think it’d cause a lot more confusion than I’d be comfortable with
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] - I’ve never really liked [name_f]Nola[/name_f], I’m afraid! I much prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f] or [name_f]Nova[/name_f]!
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] [more MN] - I love the name [name_u]Reese[/name_u]!! If you did keep [name_f]Nola[/name_f] - [name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u] would be adorable.
Elliette/[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] - I prefer [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], because Elliette seems a bit over complicated. I think it’s cute though, and I like the idea of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Lottie[/name_f].
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - I want to love [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], but I’m not a fan of the abrupt sound of it - it feels a bit harsh imo.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] - [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is cute but I’ve never quite warmed to it fully. I like it but I vastly prefer [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]! I also think [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] would suit your list really well.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]/[name_u]June[/name_u] - I prefer [name_u]June[/name_u] of the two - [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]'s alright, but [name_u]June[/name_u] feels much more timeless.

[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is gorgeous! I love [name_u]Ember[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] too. Here’s some combination ideas using mostly honor names;
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_u]Jesse[/name_u], [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Brinley[/name_u] [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] (from [name_u]Joyce[/name_u])
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] ( any -lyn name could honour [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] I think!)
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Althea[/name_f]
[name_u]Haven[/name_u] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_u]Laken[/name_u] [name_f]Althea[/name_f], [name_u]Laken[/name_u] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_u]Reagan[/name_u] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] [name_f]Joanne[/name_f]
Elliette/[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Lane[/name_u] / [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]
[name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Selena[/name_f]

[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]
[name_f]Morrigan[/name_f]

Alterations (your favourites flow well but the middles feel a bit… boring / overused / expected to me. These work nicely imo; )
[name_u]Ember[/name_u] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] / [name_u]Ember[/name_u] [name_u]Haven[/name_u]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Edith[/name_f] / [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] / [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Althea[/name_f]
