My Girls List

Hey everyone,
I’m hoping for some constructive feedback on my girls list please. If you could offer your thoughts I’d really appreciate it.
Unfortunately I’ve had to give up some of my very favourites as they weren’t mutually agreed upon - the joy of not having sole naming rights!!
I know some of these are kind of popular compared to some of the more uncommon names that are favoured here but they’re the best compromises we could come up with. Many thanks in advance

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

All of these names are favorites on my list except for [name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (but I like those a lot as well!!!) If I had to choose a top three, I think it would be: [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]. They’re all so gorgeous!

Your list is beautiful! [name_f]Every[/name_f] single name is so sweet and spunky. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]! I also like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] though.
You’ve chosen great names, you can’t go wrong with any of them!

These names are so sweet! [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is so popular now that it seems like the plainest one on your list, but there’s nothing wrong with it. I especially love [name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f], and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]!

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is cute! She feels very spunky, smart, and a little bit Southern.
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] - It’s a pretty name, but I personally prefer the [name_f]Leila[/name_f] spelling.
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] - [name_f]Darling[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. She’s sweet and playful with loads of old-fasioned charm.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - Also a vintage charmer. [name_f]My[/name_f] cousin named her daughter [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] a couple of years ago, and I think it wears extremely well!
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is so classy and elegant. I absolutely love this name and would have it on my own list if it hadn’t already been used in my family.
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] - I was never a fan of [name_f]Faye[/name_f], but she’s been growing on my lately. She has a very sweet, gentle sound, and I love the meaning: “fairy”.
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] - Tbh, I’m pretty sick of [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. There are just too many, so it feels really boring and overused. (Though I have not known a single nice [name_f]Grace[/name_f], so I may be biased against her.) The name isa classic, so there’s that in her favor.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is so lovely! She’s very high on my own list for her graceful, sophisticated sound and feel.
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] - Adorable.
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a great choice! It’s a perfect vintage beauty ready for revival.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

Here are my thoughts:

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]-This is cute. It’s kind of spunky, friendly, feminine w/out being too frilly. It’s well known yet not way over done.

[name_f]Layla[/name_f]-This has a pretty sound, but it’s just sort of trendy. I want to like it, but maybe just hear it & variations of it too often.

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]-[name_u]Love[/name_u] this! It’s so cheerful & a little bit quirky. I kind of prefer it more as a nn, but love it regardless.

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]-This is okay. I can’t quite get on board. It’s a short spunky botanical name, so I should like it. But I just hear I.V.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]-This is fine. Obviously way over done, & just not super exciting in my opinion.

[name_f]Faye[/name_f]-I don’t love it, but it’s okay.

[name_f]Grace[/name_f]-This is not my style. It’s always seemed sort of snobby.

[name_f]Clara[/name_f]-[name_f]Lovely[/name_f]! Smart, charming, vintage kind, pretty & grows up well.

[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]-[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is too sweet not to love. I just think that it’s awfully nick-namey. So many great options as full names like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] or [name_f]Primrose[/name_f].

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]-[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! Such an underused vintage classic.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - I really like it. Soft and pretty, and it ages well. Recognisable without feeling overused.

[name_f]Layla[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this. I have the [name_f]Leyla[/name_f] spelling on my list but this spelling is equally nice. That is something to bear in mind though - she will most likely have it spelled wrong a lot ([name_f]Leyla[/name_f], [name_f]Leila[/name_f], [name_f]Laila[/name_f]). If that doesn’t bother you then this is a very sweet name.

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] - This is cute and vintage, but I struggle to picture it on a girl older than 8 but younger than 70.

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - I don’t like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] very much. It’s something about the “I” sound I think, it sounds quite harsh. Plus [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is a spiky plant, which is not an image I like. I prefer other, softer floral names.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - Classic, never goes out of style. I find it a little underwhelming but it has ample cute nickname options such as [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] or even [name_u]Arlo[/name_u].

[name_f]Faye[/name_f] - Simple and elegant. Easy to spell and pronounce, and ages well. [name_m]Will[/name_m] go with pretty much any middle name or surname combo. I really like this.

[name_f]Grace[/name_f] - Another one from my list, although I confess that I prefer [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]. [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is another classic but one that I don’t think sounds boring, and it as a very versatile middle name option too.

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - I used to really like this name but it’s fallen out of favour with me recently. I’m not sure why, I think it’s something about the sound. But [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] is a great namesake if you like [name_u]Doctor[/name_u] Who!

[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] - Like rosy cheeks! I love it. If I didn’t know someone that I don’t like with this name, it would 100% be on my list. It’s got a bright and happy sound and a lovely meaning.

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - Vintage but ripe for revival, I think. Pearls are stunning, and like them this name is understated but beautiful. Again, it’s easy to spell and pronounce too. I really like this one, especially for a girl born in [name_u]June[/name_u] ([name_f]Pearl[/name_f]’s associated month).

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I love your list! Lots of beautiful choices.

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]- Sweet and spunky

[name_f]Layla[/name_f]- This is okay, but it gets a little lost among all the other popular L names ([name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], etc). It’s not bad but it’s probably my least favorite from your list.

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]- I like this. I usually don’t like nickname names, built [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] seems strong enough to stand on its own.

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]- This is on my list for future girls. So sweet, and there’s a lot of beautiful symbolism related to the ivy plant!

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]- It is a little more popular than I’d go for personally, but on the other hand, names are popular a reason. It’s classic, beautiful, and familiar.

[name_f]Faye[/name_f]- This is so sweet!

[name_f]Grace[/name_f]- I feel like I’ve known a lot of Graces, which makes it lose a little of its charm to me. Still a nice choice though.

[name_f]Clara[/name_f]- This is what we plan to use if we have a daughter next, so obviously I am a fan!

[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]- I prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f] with a nickname of [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is one of my all time favorite girl names.

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]- [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is lovely! Definitely underused. It would be on my list too if it sounded better with our surname. This might be my favorite from your list.

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - nms, but it’s growing on me a bit! It feels light and friendly! Very sweet!

[name_f]Layla[/name_f] - this was in my top five girl names for awhile! It’s so beautiful!

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] - super sweet! :purple_heart:

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - again, nms. I’ve always associated it with poison ivy. I can still appreciate it though!

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - very regal and formal! I love [name_f]Lotte[/name_f] as a nickname!

[name_f]Faye[/name_f] - this was on my list for awhile too! It’s so magical and simple!

[name_f]Grace[/name_f] - this one doesn’t do anything for me. Very sorry.

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - beautifully elegant and divine!

[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] - I would much prefer it as a nn to [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Too insubstantial on its own imo. Very cute though!

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]! So very sweet and gentle sounding!

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - I’ve grown to love this! Growing up I found it whiny, to be honest, but she’s got spunk and is definitely unexpected (at least here?).
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] - it’s so familiar that I find myself pushing it to the side, and then I remember how truly lovely she is. I admit I prefer the [name_f]Leila[/name_f] spelling–it was the one I was first introduced to, and has effortless beauty to me–but I get the appeal with [name_f]Layla[/name_f], too.
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] - I’m not one for nicknames as given names, so this isn’t my favorite, but even that aside, there are other [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nns I prefer. Sorry about that. It’s a fine name, just not my preferance.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - Ivyyyyyy. I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. Christmasy and spunky and though gaining popularity, still feels really fresh to me. I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - och, I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. She manages to insinuate herself all over my own list lol. Right now she’s a middle, but I’d love to have a [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] or a [name_f]Lola[/name_f] one day. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], despite her popularity, is one of the classiest, sweetest, most intelligent sounding names I know, and find it hard to find anything negative to say about one, ever. I adore her.
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] - I’ve never really gotten [name_f]Faye[/name_f]’s appeal, but she’s a fine name. I much prefer [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], or [name_f]Mae[/name_f], if we’re talking very loosely related names here.
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] - [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f]! Who cares how popular she is–she exudes elegance, class, charm, and cuddles. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandma’s middle name was [name_f]Grace[/name_f], and she’s all over my list because of it. I feel like she gets overlooked so much because of the popularity, but I adore her.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - I admit to vastly preferring [name_f]Claire[/name_f], but she’s a lovely name. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you say her? [name_f]Claire[/name_f]-ah or CLAH-rah?
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] - sweet, but I prefer [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] myself.
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] a lot! I prefer her as a middle, but I do love her.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] are my favorites! All the best!

I definitely know how you feel about letting favourites go when you have to split the decision with a spouse. There is a bit of a name grieving process.

[name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are my favourites but I think you have some great names to work with.

I love your list, all your names are elegant yet popular. Thankfully my husband and I agreed on the names of our babies relatively easy. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite on the list is probably [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. It’s very sophisticated yet young and joyful.

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] list - i really like:
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - sleek and fresh
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] - cutesy yet versatile
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - clear and lovely
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] - warm yet rugged
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] -light and gorgeous

do you have any combos? It is hard to give constructive feedback on a first name list I think because it is mostly a matter of personal taste. if you list some combos you could get advice on their flow and whatnot. All of the names you listed are gorgeous and would make great monikers for a baby, but it mostly matters what you and SO love the most!
if you’re wondering my favorites are [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] :two_hearts:
