My Horribly Nerdy, Commonly-Hated Name Crush...(warning, it's crazy)

Is there anyone else who likes [name_m]Egbert[/name_m]? And why is it seen as a bad name? Eggs aren’t bad, so why is that a problem?

Would you want egg in your name? Sorry, eggs are bad in my opinion.

I laughed a bit when I first heard [name_m]Egbert[/name_m], but it really isn’t bad at all. It sounds smart and distinguished. I gave it a thumbs up on its page.

Eeks. perhaps Eckert? [name_m]Egbert[/name_m] is a good name for a pet rooster.

Well, I don’t want to use it [name_m]IRL[/name_m]. Maybe for a character. Or, like @rkrd said, an animal. Or a character that’s an animal.

Honestly, Eggs weren’t my first association. Its in the same vein as names such as Aurelianus, [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], [name_m]Edmond[/name_m], Edger, Bosker, Thorburt, Theodard, [name_m]Theophilus[/name_m], [name_m]Randolf[/name_m], [name_m]Adolphus[/name_m], ect… its distinct, distinguished, and bit of an old upper crusted style that is rather none-existent today. In [name_f]England[/name_f], it will be looked at as something you’d see the wealthy do, bring back dated “Silly” names, but then they can get away with it. In the United States, it will be seen as a name that seems to too stuffy and Titled and dated, something that no one cares about anymore. I personally love it. I do not have an issue with it because nothing negative in association comes to mind. I love distinguished names, and the more distinct the better. I do not see anything wrong with choosing a name that isn’t common or overused. One less [name_m]Luke[/name_m] or [name_m]David[/name_m], or [name_m]Jason[/name_m] in a classroom. Go for it!

Or maybe Edger? I think the nn [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] is adorable. There are a lot of people who greatly dislike eggs, I suppose you love them or hate them. Personally I associate them with being smelly. But if [name_m]Egbert[/name_m] is a name you love and feel passionately about, you shouldn’t worry about the opinions of nameberry. I was wondering where you first heard the name, or the story behind what made you love the name?

I’m not sure where I first heard the name. I think I’ve been aware that it’s a name for as long as I can remember. But I saw it on NB one day and thought about it for a while, then I started to like it, I guess.

Hmmm… yeah, I must say… I quite like it! It’s kind of my [name_m]Bernard[/name_m]-[name_m]Edgar[/name_m] style  or at least lays somewhere close  I’d need to get used to it more, but I think I might crush on it in the future  and no, I don’t think it’s too ‘out there’ - just unique… plus no, I don’t see any eggs in it!

Ekkert means ‘nothing’ in Icelandic, so this made me lol

I once named an egg [name_m]Egbert[/name_m], when we were doing the thing in secondary school where you look after an egg to supposedly teach you how to be responsible (?! like it’s hard to look after a freaking egg). Sorry, it really is an awful name.

I think [name_m]Egbert[/name_m] would be a great name for an egg or a chicken haha!

Sorry, I think [name_m]Egbert[/name_m] [name_m]IRL[/name_m] would get horribly teased…
The “[name_u]Bert[/name_u]” part is actually more bothersome to me than the “egg” haha
