[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are expecting a baby at the end of [name_m]September[/name_m]. I can’t believe how close we’re getting!!
[name_f][/name_f]
Anyway, we’re having the hardest time agreeing and finding a girl name that we love.
[name_f][/name_f]
Here is some names that I love that my husband doesn’t:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Beverly[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
Frances/Frankie
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
Here are some names my husband loves that I don’t:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Louella[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
We both like the names [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], [name_f]Laura[/name_f], and [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], but aren’t in love and I feel like there are better names out there.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys have any suggestions? Her middle name would be either [name_f]Beth[/name_f] or [name_f]Louise[/name_f].
We also struggled to find names we both agreed on and our list felt lacklustre for most of the pregnancy. Eventually one of his suggestions grew on me but you just never know which way it’s going to go.
[name_f][/name_f]
We all hope to fall in love with a name that both want to use but that’s not always possible. [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] are all great options if nothing else comes up, and whichever name you choose will be special because it’s hers.
It’s often the case that the father wants more girly-girl, pretty / girl next door names and the mother something more complex and potentially more divisive or strong.
[name_f][/name_f]
FWIW, [name_f]Frances[/name_f] is one of my favourite names [name_f][/name_f]- I find it so literary and intelligent, and [name_f]Franny[/name_f] and Francy are adorable (I’m not a fan of Frankie).
[name_f][/name_f]
Some names that might cross the two camps:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Delphine[/name_f] (nn Delphi) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Romy[/name_f] (or [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] nn Romy) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Posy[/name_f], Phina or [name_f]Josie[/name_f]
I’m going to start with the names that you like first. [name_f][/name_f] What about…
[name_f][/name_f]
Bonnie-Jean? [name_f][/name_f] This is one of the few double barrel names that I love! [name_f][/name_f] It gives a little extra something to the name [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] (which I do love by itself as well)
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]? [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Maybelle[/name_f], [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], or [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f]?
It’s a shame your husband isn’t into your list absolutely love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f] + [name_f]Martha[/name_f]. [name_f][/name_f]I also really love [name_f]Ella[/name_f] + [name_f]Louella[/name_f]. From your joint favourites I like [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], [name_f]Laura[/name_f] + [name_f]May[/name_f] but appreciate that these are not feeling like the ‘one’ naming is hard. I think you share a similar naming style so that’s a great start and [name_f]Beth[/name_f] + [name_f]Louise[/name_f] are lovely middle names.
[name_f][/name_f]
You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
it seems like you have the same style but he really goes in for a prominent L, which usually has a way of lengthening a name’s sound, while you’re drawn more towards names with tighter, more pinched sounds, so going off that:
Elizabeth/Lisbeth – I really think your solution could be somewhere in this family actually? maybe even Isabel, Eloise, or Liesel? (obv several could get you to the Ella nickname for him)
Lilia
Cecilia/Celia
Marilyn
Elsie
Lucille
Phillipa
Adelaide / Adeline/ Adele
Eleanor/Eleanora/Lenora
Della
anything that might get you to Milly/Tilly/Milla? - Emilia, Matilda, Camilla?
