We just found out today that we’re having a girl and my husband is in shock. He really wanted another boy (because he grew up with a brother and wanted the same for his son) and we were going to name him [name]Euan[/name] [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Noel[/name], ([name]Gregory[/name] and [name]Noel[/name] are family names). Our son, our only other child, is [name]Jonas[/name] [name]Joaquim[/name] [name]Cecil[/name] ([name]Joaquim[/name] and [name]Cecil[/name] are also family names).
I’ve been throwing girl names at him for weeks and he just shoots them all down. I thought he would open up or offer his own after confirming that the baby is in fact a girl, but he truly doesn’t like my names and has no suggestions of his own (a familiar scenario, I know). Here are my names, along with his ratings:
DH doesn’t care for:
[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Rayne[/name]
[name]Calixta[/name] [name]Rayne[/name]
DH is not quite sold on, but might warm up to:
[name]Noelle[/name] [name]Rayne[/name]
[name]Annmarie[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] [name]Noelle[/name]
[name]Sidney[/name] [name]Rayne[/name]
I should explain that [name]Noelle[/name] is a family name, on his side. [name]Rayne[/name] is just something that I’ve liked since childhood, but I don’t like one-syllable first names. He probably hates it anyway.
Please help me come up with some suitable suggestions, based on his taste (maybe some of you agree with him) and allowing for the middle names [name]Noelle[/name] or [name]Rayne[/name] or both. Also, our last name begins with a Q.
Congrats on your little girl! Sounds like your guy is still in shock, learning he’s gonna have a lady.
It’s too bad he doesn’t like [name]Imogen[/name] or [name]Cecily[/name], I love those!
I love [name]Noelle[/name] and [name]Annmarie[/name]!! Other than those two, nms really. Maybe he would like more popular names, like [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], etc., and y’all could compromise somehow? Congrats! We have a boy and just had a baby girl. It’s great!
Thank you everyone so much! It’s nice to know that others appreciate my names after they were all rejected by my hubby. He and I just talked about names again and, as I suspected, he had a name up his sleeve all along. He wants to name her after his mother. So we compromised and we’re using his family name that I love as the first name and her name as the middle. What do you all think?
[name]Noelle[/name] Leonne
Our son has three names, so I feel like we should stay with that but I can’t think of anything that goes well with Leonne. Any ideas? Thanks again!
I would stick with only one syllable for a second middle name otherwise it would be quite a mouthful…[name]Just[/name] a few suggestions…
[name]Glad[/name] you were able to compromise! My hubby and I have to do that too and he usually hates all of my suggestions! Its very hard to agree! All the best!!!
