My husband's choice is...

We are expecting number four. In case you haven’t seen other posts I’ll explain… Everyone in the family has 5 letter names - [name]James[/name] and [name]Jamie[/name] (mom and dad) [name]Elise[/name], [name]Marie[/name], and [name]Clara[/name]. My husband has fallen in love with the name [name]Josie[/name] for girl #4. I like it, but it feels too nick namey to me. If we gave her the full name [name]Josefine[/name], but she always went by [name]Josie[/name], would that be strange? [name]Do[/name] you think we (or she) would regret it? [name]Do[/name] you think it would fit with the sib set?

I’m far from sold on the idea but my husband is ready to pick the name…

Others we’re considering:
[name]Jayne[/name] (I know, [name]Jane[/name] is way better, but I’m going with the 5 letter rule)

*The front runners for me.

So many names I’ve LOVED have been crossed off the list because they’re over popular, I have a bad association, or length of letters, but if you think you have THE [name]ONE[/name] for me, I’d love to hear it.

Hmm, if it were me, and I didn’t want [name]Josie[/name] on the birth certificate and didn’t want to break the pattern… I would try to turn him off [name]Josie[/name], subtley - like say the Duggars ruined it for you or something!.. (or josie and the pussycats)
Then maybe you could play up the cute nickname angles on some of the names you like, as maybe that’s why he is graviating to [name]Josie[/name]… [name]One[/name] of my baby books listed [name]Jill[/name] as a nickname for [name]Julia[/name] which I kind of liked… or [name]Liddie[/name] for [name]Lydia[/name]…
For what its worth I like ALL your options including [name]Josie[/name] as a full name and [name]Annie[/name] as a full name, but yeah, I think [name]Julia[/name] would be a nice choice.

I really like [name]Julia[/name], [name]Dalia[/name], and [name]Jayne[/name] from your list.

I think you will regret giving her a longer official name. I speak from experience as I regret giving one of my kids a name that’s one letter shorter than the rest of the family, especially now we are expecting another and plan to give her a 6 letter name like the rest of us have. GGGrrrrrr! I’d go with [name]Josie[/name] as a stand alone or for [name]Lydia[/name] off your list.
Not to mention the fact that [name]Milla[/name] herself wishes that she had one more letter in her name too.

I think [name]Josie[/name] is adorable but I’d definitely go with [name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Josie[/name]. Are you OK with having a longer name on the birth certificate and then just using the 5 letter [name]Josie[/name]?

I think [name]Elise[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Clara[/name] & [name]Josie[/name] is adorable - I used to have [name]Clara[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] on my list so I think [name]Josie[/name] fits beautifully.

[name]Heidi[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] are all pretty. I love [name]Dalia[/name] but not the spelling, it would have to be [name]Dahlia[/name] to me, so it doesn’t work with the 5 letter rule.

[name]Elise[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Clara[/name] & [name]Jane[/name] seems perfect - I think you’ve got 2 classics in [name]Marie[/name] and [name]Jane[/name], and then [name]Elise[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] which are a little edgier. However, I think [name]Heidi[/name] is beautiful…

Other ideas…

[name]Elise[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Clara[/name] & [name]Edith[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
