I don’t think [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Banks[/name_m] sounds too bad. I know they both end in S but they’re not totally identical.
[name_m]Nate[/name_m] is a nice name. You could go with [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] [name_m]Banks[/name_m], and use [name_m]Nate[/name_m] as a nickname. Again, I know they both have “an” but, if you listen to the stresses, it sounds like NAY-than [name_m]BANKS[/name_m], so because the stress isn’t on both "an"s, it’s not a perfect rhyme. [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Banks[/name_m] could work too.
If I were in your shoes, I would probably try to keep my favourite names and see if there’s a way were I could use them like nicknames. Or, I would just go with my favourite names. Most people aren’t addressed by both their first and last names anyway, so it’ll only really matter on special occasions
That being said, I can totally understand if similar sounding first and last names are a deal-breaker. If you would like some suggestions for alternative names:
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_m]Banks[/name_m]: if not [name_u]Max[/name_u], then could [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] work? It’s the same “mah” sound, but avoids the X sound.
[name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]Banks[/name_m]: [name_m]Mike[/name_m] is kinda similar to [name_m]Jake[/name_m] and [name_m]Luke[/name_m], but you won’t have to worry about the long A or an S ending.
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_m]Banks[/name_m]: [name_u]James[/name_u] is a solid name, and [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] resolves the ending in an “s” sound dilemma. [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], [name_m]Jim[/name_m], and even [name_m]Jack[/name_m] ([name_m]Jacques[/name_m] is the [name_m]French[/name_m] variation of [name_u]James[/name_u]) could be nice nicknames.
I personally like [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] “[name_m]Nate[/name_m]” [name_m]Banks[/name_m], but I can see why that’s not an ideal option.
[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t give up hope! I’m sure there’s a name that sounds right
So frustrating! Many of my favourites don’t go with my husband’s last name…It can be so disappointing!
It seems like most of your favourites are classic, one syllable/short names.

Personally, I think they all would work just fine. I have heard way worse.
What about [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], nn. [name_m]Nate[/name_m]? Or [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] with nn. [name_u]Max[/name_u]?
What’s wrong with [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] [name_m]Banks[/name_m]? I think it works. I also like the suggestion of [name_m]Scott[/name_m].
