Maybe I’m crazy. My mother definitely is. When I announced the name atop my girls list, she laughed so hard she almost peed. She says it sounds like a retirement home. Am I oblivious because I love it so much or is she the crazy one? You be the judge.
[name]Magnolia[/name] Harbour (nn [name]Maggie[/name])
By the way, my husband is on board. [name]Maggie[/name] is a good choice for us because we’re both very Irish but not too into traditional Gaelic names. Harbour is the name of the theater where we had our first date.
I’m sorry, but I agree, [name]Magnolia[/name] Harbour sounds like the name of an actual harbor or beach and I too chuckled. I like [name]Magnolia[/name], but maybe find a different middle name? I know it’s special because it’s the place of your first date, but maybe find something else that’s special? Or what movie/play did you see? Maybe pick a character.
Great name. Wonderful name. [name]Magnolia[/name] is both quirky and distinguished. [name]Maggie[/name] is lovable and wearable. I’m also in the “anything can work in the middle” so I think Harbour is both a cool sounding name, and great that it has meaning for you. Ignore your mother.
I can see what she means. It has a ‘place’ kind of feel so it could sound like a restaurant or something or even a wine?
I think [name]Magnolia[/name] nn [name]Maggie[/name] is great, but maybe avoid a word name in the middle spot. I love the idea of a meaningful mn tho…what actors were in the first movie on that date? Was it a month that makes an easy name like [name]May[/name] or [name]June[/name]?
It does sound like a retirement home, or some kind of B&B. Or the name of a soap opera.
At least [name]Maggie[/name] is a saving grace, and I don’t hate Harbour, but… yah, I agree with your mother.
I will reiterate my stance on the “anything can go in the middle” belief. Two of my three children have crazy middle names. When we named our first, I was a little nervous about the middle name. And guess what? The last time someone asked about it was within a week of his birth. Since then? No one. So when we gave my second son an equally “different” middle name 9 months ago, I did so with confidence. In fact, except for immediate family members, NO [name]ONE[/name] has asked what his middle is, unless they are aware of my oldest’s middle name and are curious to hear what we came up with again. I think that since [name]Magnolia[/name] lends itself so well to the nickname [name]Maggie[/name], you don’t have to have another back-up name. Team Harbour!
I like [name]Magnolia[/name], but Harbour is a little out there for me. [name]Magnolia[/name] is adorable though, and I love the nn [name]Maggie[/name].
Well I just googled it and it’s actually the name of a few places:

[name]Both[/name] names are lovely alone but when you put two word names together it becomes tacky.
I don’t like it, I’m not a fan of [name]Magnolia[/name] at all, but I know that a lot of people on here like it.
Harbour is just a very poor choice as a middle imo.
I think it sounds beautiful, but it does sound like a place. It’s far from the worst name you could give a child, and [name]Magnolia[/name] is especially beautiful, but I wouldn’t do it. Maybe make [name]Harbor[/name] a second middle? It’s got a great sound but with [name]Magnolia[/name] it’s too much place.
I like it. [name]Magnolia[/name] is on my list. I am also a fan of “anything goes in the middle”. Good luck!
I second some pp’s opinions that [name]Magnolia[/name] Harbour is a bit much, but I love [name]Lori[/name] Johnsons suggestion of [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Vivian[/name] Harbour. It gets rid of the place name entirely.

Yeah, [name]Magnolia[/name] Harbour is way too much of a place name. On their own each name is fine but together it just kind of sounds like the name of a lake or a lesser [name]Bond[/name] girl.
I [name]Love[/name] [name]Love[/name] love love [name]Magnolia[/name]. [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Harbor[/name] will work if it’s that important to you but your moms right [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Harbor[/name] sounds like a cheap hotel.
I love [name]Magnolia[/name], and I love that you’re using a middle name that has meaning to you, but I do agree with your mother that [name]Magnolia[/name] Harbour sounds very much like a place name. However, at the end of the day your mother or anyone else’s opinion really doesn’t matter. [name]Even[/name] if [name]Magnolia[/name] Harbour together sounds a bit off, she’s mostly be known as [name]Magnolia[/name] or [name]Maggie[/name], both of which are absolutely gorgeous and should serve her very well.
I do like the idea of putting another middle in between, something like [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] Harbour, but you may not be interested in messing with multiple middle names, which is totally understandable. If you aren’t, I don’t think that her middle name will come up enough to be a big issue.
[name]Magnolia[/name] is very pretty! I think [name]Magnolia[/name] Harbour is OK, but I think adding a second middle name is a good alternative. Maybe you have a family name or other name that is important to you? Good luck!
I definitely think you should rethink harbour for the middle name. As others have suggested perhaps an actor or something from the name of the movie you saw on your first place instead of the place. It doesn’t sound like a name of a baby, it sounds like a name of a place. [name]Magnolia[/name] is pretty though.
I totally agree with lori johnson, but I disagree with her solution, as I think that extra mn’s just create difficulties (there have been lots of threads on this issue, both pro & con). I would say look for a different mn that represents something significant for you both that isn’t a ‘word’ name.
I like [name]Magnolia[/name]. I think that’s a great choice. When it’s paired with Harbour it is quite wordy and I’m not a fan of that. I also just think Harbour is ugly, but each to their own. The flow also seems quite awkward between the two.
