I just gave birth to my fifth child (a boy) and we are extremely happy! We decided to name him Apocalypse, because of a dream i had where I had a son called Apocalypse. It turns alot of heads, but i love it so much! Please tell me what you think of it.
I am glad you picked a name that you know you won’t hear anyone else naming their children. I used to say that I was naming my first son “[name]Eve[/name] Destroyer”, but I am into extremely obscure historical names these days.
I can see how Apocalypse would look awesome when written down and sound awesome when stating his full name. I’m curious what nicknames you have for him.
I like it if it is related to the more positive definition of the word (a prophetic revelation concerning a cataclysm in which the forces of good permanently triumph over the forces of evil), and I hope for his sake people think of that definition and not the more negative one (any universal or widespread destruction or disaster). [name]Just[/name] curious, do you have any nn for him, there are so many cute options with the full name Apocalypse ([name]Apollo[/name], [name]Calypso[/name], Poco).
I always thought it was a cute nickname for Revelation of [name]Saint[/name] [name]John[/name]…
i think it’s kind of weird…no offense
like nowadays that is pretty much like a zombie-taking over the world, killing everybody thing.
Cool, very interesting and unique!
Are you calling him Apocalypse or are you using a nickname?
Why? I mean, I read your reason why, but I had a dream where I gave birth to puppies and that didn’t come true. So, what was so convincing about this dream that made you actually [name]DO[/name] it and name your child Apocalypse?
It has… interesting nickname potential, but I foresee your son having to deal with a lot of difficulty in spelling, pronunciation, and just plain weird looks from all around. [name]Apollo[/name], [name]Calypso[/name]… there are so many other alternatives that would be unusual without being totally unacceptable. I’m sorry, I just don’t see any logical reason to name a baby Apocalypse.
But if you’re secure in your choice, all the best. Congratulations on your baby boy .
I think it is like naming him Disaster.
I second [name]Rollo[/name]. He now has quite a reputation to live up to or…er…avoid.
Sorry, but I don’t like the name Apocalypse. I sure wouldn’t want to be named Apocalypse. Everybody would call me Apocalypse Now. The Apocalypse means the end of the world. It’s beyond a disaster. [name]Apollo[/name] would be better.
I think the negative connotations are seriously going to make everyone very wary, I like your spunk and creativity, but I fear it may be a little missplaced.
I don’t like dissing a name when it has already been given, but i have to say i’m not mad on it. I am all for unusual names, but this is a little too unusual for me.
What are you 4 other children called?
Hmmm . . .
I think it takes a lot of courage to use a name like that. DIfferent names suit different names & families. On some people, [name]Banjo[/name] might be odd & on someone else it would be perfect. As long as it fits in with you are - go for it!
It’s a little surprising that you’ve already named your son Apocalypse and are asking for opinions now…it’s like you want to hear the shocked reactions!
While I respect your desire to make your son stand out, I think he will have a very difficult time growing up with this name…it’s one thing to have an unusual name that will raise some eyebrows, but a name like this just has such a negative connotation to it…
It’s a name you felt connected with for that I say congratulations. I don’t know if my DH would be on board with a name I dreamt about, I have some pretty weird dreams. Apocalypse is probably the most far out there name I’ve ever seen or heard. Does he have any nicknames?
It so hard to give an honest opinion once some one has already chosen a name.
I’m wondering if your post is ‘for real’ or a hoax. If this truly is the name of your son, I feel very sorry for him. I would hope that you think of the lifelong repercussions for your child and look into changing his name asap. I can’t think of one positive thing about being named Apocalypse (although a parent might feel (unjustifiably) proud of both coming up with and conferring such an outlandish name).
Best wishes to your son.
Yes, I agree with this. I don’t believe anyone would name their child Apocalypse. And if they did, they wouldn’t post it on nameberry.
If somehow this is real, I feel really bad for poor little Apocalypse. That is only slightly less awful than Hitler.
Why don’t you just call him [name]Paul[/name] for short?
That’s not a name, it’s a word. It sounds ridiculous. Why would you do that to your son!?! Poor kid!
