I am tossing around the following combos, what are your thoughts? The first names are pretty set in stone and some of the middle names are, mostly so with my girl middles than my boy middles.
Girls:
[ul]
[/ul]
Boys:
[ul]
[/ul]
As you can see, I have a host of special middle names for my girls but only one for my boys, so I am struggling to find boy combos that stick (special meaning combos stick).
My favorites of your girls combos:
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
I also like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] a lot but not crazy about those mn with them. [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u]/[name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u]/[name_m]Archer[/name_m] maybe? [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m] are pretty sweet, too, again not crazy about their middles.
I love [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m], [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Maddox[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] (also [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Maddox[/name_m]), [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u], and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m]. I also love; [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. As a whole, I think all the combos flow well, except I want to say [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Blue[/name_u], instead of [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u].
I know what you mean by special meaning combos stick. Our top 6 to 8 combos for each gender all honor and have special meaning. Each combo also honors certain loved ones we want to honor together. We definitely adore these combos more than ones that did not have honoring.
From your combos I really like…
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cerys[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u]
I’m not a huge fan of [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] as it just sounds off but I do like it flipped around to [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]!
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]: I really like this. It feels light and pretty like a lot of the girls’ names which are popular at the moment, but it’s a lot more quirky and interesting than all of them. I feel like a [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] would fit in/stand out perfectly in a class full of [name_f]Aria[/name_f] Roses and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] Mays. [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]: I love [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] too! Would you use this even for a [name_f]Spring[/name_f] baby? I definitely would, but I know some people find that a bit weird. [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u]: I like [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] more than [name_f]Maia[/name_f]. [name_f]Maia[/name_f] is pretty, but a bit “meh” to me; maybe I’ve just heard [name_f]Maya[/name_f] a bit too much. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]: [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] combo! I like short, quirky, unisex [name_u]Wren[/name_u] with long, vintage [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] - works really well. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Anouk[/name_f]: My favourite! I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] and it’s perfect with sweet, no-nonsense [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]: It’s very sweet, and I do like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and appreciate that [name_f]Rose[/name_f] has meaning to you, but I don’t find this exciting. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]: [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]. I love the quiet strength and beauty of [name_f]Anna[/name_f], and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is a bit more playful and flows really well with it. [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]: I don’t really like this one. [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is not terrible, but not special to me; [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] I’m just not keen on. Sorry! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]: It’s OK, but I find the vowel sounds in [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] a bit too repetitive - I know they’re not the same, but they’re a bit too close for me. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]: I think this is stunning - beautifully understated and a lovely cohesive soft-vintage vibe to it.
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m]: These names sound really good together - short and cool - but the double Biblical origin would put me off a little. [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u]: I like this, but I don’t love it. I like [name_u]Beau[/name_u] more than [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]. For some reason, together they give me a very Southern vibe - not sure if that’s a good thing or not. [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u]: My favourite of your boys! I think this is a lovely strong, playful, unexpected combo. [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] this. Again, strong, different and a little bit fun too. [name_m]Maddox[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]: I love this on a child, but it feels a little too cute/trendy to me to age well. I do think the flow is good though. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]: Second favourite! [name_u]Love[/name_u] both of these names, and together they’re handsome, unexpected and funky. [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u]: I think this is a fine combo, but it doesn’t excite me. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m]: Ditto the above. I like [name_m]Knox[/name_m] a lot in the middle, but I find [name_m]Archer[/name_m] a bit “meh”. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it’s not very popular (yet), it just feels like a lot of the most popular boys’ names so I feel like I’m a little bored of it already.
I’ve only good things to say it seems as I think you’ve got a great list full of brilliant combos. My personal favourites would be [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] & [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u], but really, I quite like them all!
Top 5 Girls:
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - so sweet and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is unexpected <3
Ivy Anouk
Freya Jolie
Adelaide Wren
Lyla Quinn (though I would LOVE Iris Quinn)
Top 5 Boys:
Milo August <3
Elijah Beau
Jude Levi
Ezra Blake
Maddox Finn
@anothersunnyday: Thank you! I am not sure on the middle names with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], either. I didn’t put a lot of thought into them in comparison to my other combos. Thank you for the suggestions, I like them all.
@lovemysweeties: Thank you. I used to have [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] as the combo before [name_u]Beau[/name_u], so I did start saying that accidentally! What are your thoughts on [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Blue[/name_u]? I totally agree with the honour name thing. All of my names with honouring middles I just adore, the others I do love but not quite the same way.
@trippindippy: Thank you! I do prefer [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] over [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] in terms of flow, but [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is my favourite boy name so unfortunately [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] isn’t an option! I may have to go back to the drawing board with [name_u]Jude[/name_u].
@katinka: Thank you so much! [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Anouk[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] were completely random combos that just came to mind out of nowhere, so I am glad they’re getting (some) love!
@brenae: I never thought about [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] realistically, it came across my mind when I was sorting combos but I didn’t give it much thought. It is so beautiful though! Thank you.
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] are both very handsome. [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] is rough-in-tumble, a bit of a cowboy. [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] is also rough-in-tumble but more the climbing in the trees, playing in a stream rough-in-tumble. I really like both. Does one have more meaning to you?
I completely agree with their descriptions! Um, not really. [name_u]Blue[/name_u] represents the town I live/grew up in (think: football colour, my family are huge supporters), but for me the meaning isn’t really there. I think for both of them it’s more of the sound that I like over anything else. I have put [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] in there right now but [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m] is the main name I want to use (it’s my grandfather’s name) although I am huge on short and sweet names, with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m] not fitting the bill. Maybe [name_m]Eli[/name_m] [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m]?
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] seems to flow effortlessly, while with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] a have a slight pause. If I am thinking the correct football town/state, I grew-up right below you but rooted on the blue, go blue. I also like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m], but not as much as [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Kent[/name_m]? I think it’s very handsome. I think [name_m]Kent[/name_m] would honor your grandfather.
I see what you mean about the pause, too. So many places have the blue football colour, I would be very surprised. [name_m]Kent[/name_m] would be too related to the county near where I live so I would deem it to be unusable, which sucks.
Oh, goodness, I forgot you were in the UK. I was thinking you were a Michigan fan. I grew-up in Ohio. The two states are rivals (University of Michigan and Ohio State) but I always rooted on Michigan. Sorry Buckeye fans who are on the forum. Too bad you can’t use [name_m]Kent[/name_m]. Maybe a name with the same meaning as [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m]. Or your grandfather’s birthstone color, his favorite color, birth place, favorite place to visit, etc.
Girls:
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] - This combo flows well and I like the spunky fn with the feminine mn. It is pretty.
[name_f]Cerys[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] - Flows nicely and sounds great together.
[name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] - I think the flow is a little off. [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] [name_f]Maia[/name_f] would be better.
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this! [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is just so cute and pretty and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is just gorgeous.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] - I like this as well. [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] is so different but sounds so cool.
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - It is pretty.
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - The flow to me feels off, like with [name_f]Maia[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u]. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Anna[/name_f] would be nice.
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - I’m not a fan of the mn with [name_f]Lyla[/name_f], but it flows well.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - Flows great and sounds good.
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] - It flows well and is pretty.
Boys:
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. This combo is okay. Not my favorite. [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] flows better.
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] - I love the name [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], not a fan of [name_u]Beau[/name_u] with it.
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] - I like this!
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m] - I’d move [name_m]Leo[/name_m] as [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]'s mn, and use [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] for [name_u]Beau[/name_u]'s mn. [name_u]Beau[/name_u] [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m]/[name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]
[name_m]Maddox[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] - both a good names, just not together. The flow is off.
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. Not a fan of [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] with [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_m]Maddox[/name_m]? [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]/[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m]?
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] - Perfect.
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] - It is a good combo, flows well.
I noticed you have two of [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]‘s boys’ names on your list.
@halfkoreangirl: Thank you. And yeah, I have quite a lot of [name_f]Angelina[/name_f]‘s kids’ names on my list and her middle name. [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_m]Maddox[/name_m] and [name_m]Knox[/name_m], as well as [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], are favourites of mine.
As first names I love [name_f]Cerys[/name_f], [name_f]Maia[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. As a combo my favorites are [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Anouk[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]! Those just feel right!
For the boys I love all first names except [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. My favorite combos are [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m], [name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] (5 stars), [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m]! Those are really great!
Some middle suggestions for the boys:
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Beckett[/name_m]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Holden[/name_m]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Knight[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u]
[name_m]Maddox[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u]
[name_m]Maddox[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Maddox[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
Thank you! I really like your suggestions of [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] (and [name_m]Beckett[/name_m]!), [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] (I used to have this on my list too) and [name_m]Maddox[/name_m] [name_u]Blake[/name_u]. Thank you again.
