My New Combos!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries! I’ve recently been revamping my list, and have actually been fairly successful with the girls (the boys list, on the other hand…yikes).

I’ve kept some of my old ones that I still adore - [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Daveena[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_u]Dana[/name_u], and I don’t need opinions on these ones :). The other seven in my top ten are new combos (new middles, swapped middles, new firsts, etc.) and I would like some opinions on these!

  1. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] - this quickly skipped to the top of my list after I finally found the perfect middle for [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. I know some people find [name_f]Luna[/name_f] trendy, but I’ve loved it since I was young, and it has strong connections for me and my sisters. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is whimsical and dreamy to me, and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is more vintage, longer, and grounded to balance it out. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] also has a personal connection to me.

  2. [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] - [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is an indirect honour name (it represents a memory), and reminds me of a very peaceful time in my life. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is also an indirect honour name and I think it’s very elegant.

  3. [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] - [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] is spunky, strong and matches the same naming pattern as my sisters and me. [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is vintage, with a lot of rich history, and I obviously adored the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] character - to me, it suggests wisdom.

  4. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - [name_f]Lily[/name_f]'s popularity bothers me, but I still adore its sweetness. I feel like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] can also have so much strength and spunk to it. I think that like with [name_f]Luna[/name_f], the vintage vibe and length of [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] balances out the shorter name. I also really like [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]'s meaning and nautical connection.

  5. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] - [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]'s meaning (daughter of the sea) really really appeals to me, as someone who adores nautical names because of a personal connection. For a long time, the combo was [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], but with [name_u]Wren[/name_u], I feel like it’s more fun and unusual, rather than just vintage.

  6. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] - [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] means “light” and I, for some reason, just adore this name. [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] is the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] goddess of wisdom, and I think it’s a more unusual alternative to [name_f]Athena[/name_f], especially with a name as popular as [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].

  7. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] - [name_f]Freya[/name_f] has been a long-time love of mine, especially with its strength, spunkiness and connection to mythology. I’m not sure if I like this combo yet, but [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and its meaning seemed sweet.

  8. [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] - When considering my original 3 combos, [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] doesn’t actually make the top ten. However, I just wanted some opinions! I know a lot of people find [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] too trendy, but I just adore it and the nautical connotations - I feel like it has a whimsical, hipster vibe. I think that the more traditional sounding (though still relatively unusual) [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] balances it out. [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]'s meaning is also an indirect honour for me.

Any thoughts/opinions? Thank you for any replies!

I love most of these. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] and [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] though, sorry.

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] - I like both names, but I’m not sure they go together. To me, [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is a white light (due to it’s moon meaning), and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] feels more colourful and bright. The two together just don’t go in my opinion. I feel awful saying that because you love it! It’s not a bad combo, just not for me.

  1. [name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] - I like this, very sweet, classical, and elegant.

  2. [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] - I like this a lot! It’s got a very Shakespearean feel about it. [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] is a glorious first name and so underused!

  3. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - This is a nice combo. I don’t like the name [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] at all, so I can’t say I love the combo, but the names go well together and have a nice feel to them.

  4. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] - I had this exact combination on my list a few years back! So stunning. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is a huge crush of mine at the moment!

  5. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] - [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] is very old-fashioned to me, but not in a nice, vintage way. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is cute though, and they do go well together.

  6. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] - I like this combo! I find [name_f]Freya[/name_f] a little boring atm, but perhaps that’s just her rising popularity.

  7. [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] - I love [name_u]Saylor[/name_u]! If [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] can work, why can’t [name_u]Saylor[/name_u]? I also love the imagery [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] brings. Yes, she’s a bit trendy, but that’s not always a bad thing. [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] is wonderful and the perfect balance with [name_u]Saylor[/name_u].

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] - stunning. Fresh, celestial, floral and gentle all at once

[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] has elegance, I like it

[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] -it’s quite nice but for me it feels very heavy. [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] came to mind. Or perhaps even [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Nixie[/name_f] or [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]

[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]- it has a nice, brisk fresh sound to it!! [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a bit popular for my tastes but [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] does add balance. [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] would be nice too

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is amazing!! It has such wonderful flow and I really enjoy regal, strong but feminine [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] with unisex a d gentle [name_u]Wren[/name_u]

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] is lovely. I like the light bouncy sounds of [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] with the wise, more formal feeling [name_f]Minerva[/name_f]. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] also strikes me as one of those familiar yet not massively used names

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] feels airy, fragrant and cheerful! [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Madelief[/name_f] came to mind too

[name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] is nice though i prefer the [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] spelling and the sounds of [name_u]Sailor[/name_u] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] does have a cool yet whimsical vibe to it however that gives it strenght and power. I think as i look and think on it, it appeals more

@fearlessfirefly thank you!

@carysmarie don’t feel bad at all, I want honest opinions  Thank you for your feedback! I do agree with your thoughts on [name_f]Freya[/name_f], it used to be at the very top of my list before it got more popular :frowning:

@greyblue as always, a detailed and super helpful response! [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] does feel heavy but I actually quite like it - I feel like it adds to the charm a little bit. [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is gorgeous though. I do actually prefer the sound of [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], but [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] is also the name of one of my favourite characters, and I chose it for its meaning, so I think I do prefer it overall
